:help:New coil, Problem with it or the Location??

I took my new coil out for the first time today. I can't mention which one as my previous posts about it have been removed. The question I have is what happened with this coil when I used it. Here goes what happened today:
The coil air-tested great the past few days at home, everything seemed to check out. Today I go to a local park and the coil seems "crazy." The TID's were all over the place. I ran the machine with lower sens and I tried every mode that I have, including stock coin, TTF, Bills park pattern, and 2 of my own edited patterns. The numbers were crazy in every mode no matter what I did. I had deep and fast off, ground=difficult and trash=high. I noise cancelled several times and came up with channels 4, 6 and 10 in the various cancels. This did not seem to help. THEN I switched to my stock pro coil and everything seemed to quite right back down to normal. WEIRD! When I got home I air tested the new coil again and everything checked out perfectly again. So, now my question is, do you think I have a problem with my new coil or could it just be the park I hunted in. I have never experienced something like this before, with any coil that I have tried, but this is also the largest coil I have ever run. I really can't figure out what is going on as nothing seemed to help (settings wise anyway) and everything seems normal in testing at home. I can only assume that the problem is either a defective coil or that something in the park was interfering with it (due to its larger size) and causing it to be unstable. Any input is greatly appreciated. For those of you that know which coil I am talking about, I would also appreciate any help with your experience with getting this thing tweaked to the E-Trac. If you can't post it here I would appreciate a PM with any help. Thank you all and I hope to get this figured out soon as I had high hopes for this new "upgrade." HH -Marc

I would say there is a bad are loose connection in the new coil. Try it in your back yard or somewhere else and see what happens. If your are looking for a big coil the 15 inch WOT is the way to go. The 1898 Barber Quarter I found yesterday 12 inch.

i have the same "coil" and was interested in your post yesterday. i have been lurking and reading and doing my best the past couple months to perfect the etrac. on the reviews i read of the "coil" i bought one around 200.00 took maybe 2 weeks . ok last week broke it out , i was about to sign in finally and give a real review. my box was fine , the hair you said was on yours was most likely the excess plastic from the mold like mine. either way it should have been pulled off. i took it to a ball field i have hunter several times , ok , sensitivity. if you take it away to the back it would manually go to maybe 24 , up front it would maybe get to 22 . swapping to the pro coil i could manually run 28 and auto +3 at maybe 26. the "coil" would air test deeper but unless you maybe have it way out in a clean field it would false quite a bit. and yes there was alot of chatter that i at first thought was it going deeper. first time i used it it was very wet so i wrote that off . next trip i did the same thing i tried all the programs , by lowering the gain and fast off it maybe settled down a bit. maybe. when you get anywhere near trash it would really chatter, i just put on a sunray proble so swapping the lower shaft is easy...oh by the way thanks bart at big boys hobbies .... so i could play around and swap the "coil" with the pro coil and compare. pinpointing as with alot of large coils is iffy ,there is no seperation, falsing all day long , i would get a 09-42, 12-42, 01-43 dig the pug and not even get a blip. another issue was the depth was off a few inches. this may be a good coil to relic hunt in a big field way away from emi and on nice ground, if the soil is the least bit mineralized and even a hint of trash it makes way to much noise, or in my case you run it in auto +3 ,and at the sensitivity there it wont go as deep as the pro coil, heck in the field i can run the sef 8x6 at 29- 30 and get more depth and more stable and perfect seperation. i think it is a very nicely hyped coil , not bad, very heavy . mine didnt act up as much as yours but i was expecting alot more , i just ordered the 13 detech ultimate coil and will maybe sell my "coil" if the detech works out. oh my "coil" didnt come with any of the paperwork warranty either so i have tried to email to get that

Thank you SOOO much KHW, your experience seems to be exactly what mine is doing. For what it's worth, I guess I can rest assured that mine is not defective, unless its defective in exactly the same way that yours is. Mine would also settle down a bit if I turned the sens down, but I don't see the point of sacrificing depth with lower sens just to have greater "coverage." The ground is not "clean" at this park, so your point of problems near trash definitely apply to me. I also had pinpointing issues as you mentioned. I am used to laser-like pinpointing where 95% of targets end up being dead center in my plugs but today i had a few that were in the wall of my plugs. This is to be expected with a bigger coil but I didn't expect it to this degree. I didn't realize the weight difference until I switched to my pro coil. It felt like I was swinging nothing after I switched. I agree with you "hype" comment so far. I know I am basing this off one outing, but so far it has done nothing to live up to its hype. I think I am going to pick up a 15" WOT and give that a try in comparison. Thanks Rolladex for the advice and thank you KHW for your great information. I hope that the next few outings go better or else I will be selling this "miracle coil" very soon. Thanks for the help guys. HH -Marc

yes i have been wanting to post for awhile and one post was kinda about the coils . and what you said "sacrifice" is the correct term. the best coil ifyou are looking for depth has the most to do which one can run the hottest. if you find a spot to air test 3 coils and all are at 30 manual and coil "a" is by far the deepest , you know 13-14 incnes on a dime , but when you get to the field and hook each up , the level that each will run smoothly is just the opposite . coil "a " runs lower and the worst air test coil will still run manually at 28 and be able to run smooth. so what you have with like this coil is just a large coil for coverage. in most cases if you are hunting for coins and even jewerly it isnt going to be clean enough to use this coil we are talking about . can you imagine at the beach? our soil here also isnt too bad the stock coil for the most part away from traffic and lines will run auto +3 at 26 manually maybe 27-28 , this just wouldnt average out for the depth factor gain

We all spend a small fortune on our equipment and love to try new things and accessories...a little competition is good folks! That's what made the USA into what it was for so long! JMHO...peace

Hi Christopher, I completely agree with your post, so please don't take this the wrong way, but what does that have to do with the "problem" I mentioned?

i think he means enjoy the conversation because they are going to take down a informative discussion that people who were thinking about buying a eastern european coil wont get to see and help make a decision based on actual use. i think if i would have read this post 4 weeks ago i may be 225.00 heavier in my hind pocket

Gov, can you explain why ? alot of us are curious . tia

well from what I understand, I either have a damaged coil as the box was crushed when I received it, or maybe I was having EMI problems. I will get out with it a few more times for some more testing. I've heard too many good things to give up on it, especially after just one hunt with it. Thanks all for your input. HH -Marc

If its the Nel Tornado you are talking about I have to say I`ve never had problems with it. Its stable and fine and hits hard on good targets. A little bit deeper too. Never been erratic so far but have not tested it yet in parks. I enjoy using despite a little bit heavier than the stock coil. Combined with the 4,5x7 Excellerator I think it will be a super duo.
And the guys who make this coil have great support, never heard of any complaints about it, they promptly sends a new one if there is any probs.
I do know we have cmpletely different kind of coins here in Scandinavia but I would think it would hit hard on deep silver in US.

my experience for what its worth?

very sensitive coil on small targets and deep larger ones but wet ground and EMI can give it some grief if mixed together for the mentioned reasons, not made for super trash but moderate to low and have never been able to run it hot but that's OK no need to ! very good target separation in iron, once you find the sweet spot pin pointing is easier but i do still dig a few false signals not many though, it sure is not the pro coil for pin pointing but once you find out where it works well it works well  try some moderate to low trash areas and don't think you have to run hot if you can make it to 20 or just over it will surprise

Well , this is great,I was just about to order one of these coils today and just happen to click on this forum to see whats happening.
Anybody else not happy with their new coil from the Ukraine please SPEAK UP NOW !
This is why we have this forum, to help each other out and not let anyone get ripped off.
I know the Ebayers are making a killing on these so they probably won't like any negativity.
Thanks guys for the info.

Well i think you have consider the source , russian made cars, soviet spacecrafts etc , quality control is not a strong point. mine had excess plastic from the mold hanging all off the sides, can you imagaine a comparable coil being shipped like that? thats on the outside no telling what is inside. if you had 5 coils all the same i would believe they would vary alot with this brand. i ran mine again after posting the first time, it was not wet and i took it to a area where there was little trash, also little treasure, not very much emi if any. it did run smoother. pinpointing is not spot on , sorry. now you get back to the sensitivity running. like somebody said they could run it at 20 and it was deeper, ok thats fine . if mine will run auto plus 3 at 20 , then i take off and put the procoil on it will run auto plus 3 at 26 , or somewhere in those ranges. at this point it is no deeper than a procoil if they were both able to run smooth ,at maybe 2 notches apart i would see a plus. this not to say you wouldnt get a good coil and mine isnt bad. but this is a hyped coil . before they were taken down and still on you tube there are videos of finding deep coins. it just depends on alot of things , some of the best videos on here are earthmansurfer , but he can run every coil at 30 and dig a foot deep in germany. another is stewart73 in japan again he is on running his at 30 . ok no way i could run mine here at 30. if you read another website thread unpon further review earthmansurfer says he may sell his coil and wasnt as impressed after using it a few times, so maybe roll the dice and see what comes in the box
