Can someone tell what makes the etrac so much better than the ex pro_On monday I am going to order 1 of the 2 ,Ijust need some help makeing my mind up as to why I should pay the extra 400 for the etrac. Thanks for all input.Danny Gene

I own an Explorer and it is a great machine. The Etrac has computer download capabilities and I understand a little better at discrimination.

I personally do not feel the extra cost is worth the price.

Bryce; moderator explorer forum, has used both and he states his "go to machine" is the Explorer.

Hope this may help

Hi Danny,
As a veteran EX2 user, I moved to the E-trac and HAVE NOT REGRETTED IT AT ALL. I felt the processor is faster on the E-Trac and much more STABLE than its predecessors. Mostly noticed that the CO numbers were DEAD ON no matter how deep the coins were. I don't know if you've ever used an explorer in the past, or any Minelab for that fact, but if you haven't, the E-Trac works great on factory coin program right out of the box! Awesome, awesome machine....

My Two Cents....... Duane

Well Danny I can't say about the explorer as I never owned one.And I'm still learning about the Etrac. But I can say this much. There is a learning curve to this machine( not to long) and like any new machine(to You) it takes getting use to.But When I can detect coins that My best friend can't get a wisper on and I can say hey here's a silver and really know it.That's all I need to know. Now before You Explorer guy's run me over........ I don't think you could go wrong with either machine and All I Really know is NOBODY TOUCH'S MY ETRAC, And I am getting silver at parks and schools that have been hunted to death for years. I know money is tight these days, but it's money well spent In My Not So Humble Opinion. Grumpy , or :bouncy:(Not So Grumpy Anymore)

The SE Pro is a superb machine but the E-Trac is just as good if not better with a much more new user friendly layout.I used an Ex II and se pro for a good while but after using the E-Trac for a while I sold them both and have had no interest in getting another explorer but would not mind a second E-Trac in case I ever have a problem with my first production one.I have used and abused it for hundreds of hours without the slightest issue so far though.

Hey Danny! I used an Explorer SE for 4 years. I added the ProCoil to it.

I traded my Explorer in August and bought an E-trac. It is definitely worth the higher price in speed, stability, target identification, etc. Spend the extra dollars. I would not buy another Explorer for myself. Also, the SEF coils are better than the ProCoil, in my opinion.

We hope to welcome you to the club! It's a great machine!

I hunted with an Explorer II for almost three years, and have had my Etrac now for three weeks. I dug my 10th Silver Coin with it today. It is much more stable than the Exp II was, doesn't have all the chirping and chatter that I would get with the old machine. It pinpoints much better, and the CO & FE numbers being on the same screen with the crosshairs is a nice addition. I dug a 1936 Quarter today that had a large chunk of Iron in the side of the hole. I'm pretty sure my Exp II would have nulled out over it, and I would have missed it. It's just an easier machine to use. That being said, I made some great finds with the Exp II, they are both deep seeking machines. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I agree with many comments above......I have had both detectors and would not go back to the explorer. The etrac is just way sooooother. I consider the extra money worth it for that reason alone.

Good Hunting!

Danny. The E-trac screen is much better as well.
