I found the sterling WWII era 'efficiency' pin up in Fierro (ghost town). The ring came from near Silver City. It's not much to look at, and I thought it was a crummy, plated junk ring until I scraped the crust off of it. A nice surprise. It tests at 10K and weighs in at 5 grams. It was worth about $93 when I found it, down to $84 or so now. I'll just put it in the vault until gold goes up again.

I think my favorite recent find was this old hay fork. I cleared all the junk metal away from a tree so I could detect around it, and found this. If somebody stuck you with this, you'd know that you'd been 'forked'!

Here's a ID token for a local (ish) man. If anyone knows what the K. P. and/or F.C.(B. or S.) stand for, I'd appreciate. The graphic is a knight in armor with two battle axes and an Eagle on his helmet. I also found this nice old brass Saint Christopher token with Pope Pius XI on it - he was the Pope from 2/6/22 through 2/10/39. I guess this was blessed by him?

Oh, yeah-- I also found his pen, heh. I guess it was a pen - ornate brass that was gold plated. Hey, it looks like a pope could use it!

Found a couple of nice old brass pins and a little copper enamel one:

More Military stuff - I found the Indian Wars button (s - not certain about the little ones, but they were found with the other) behind a big rock, not too far from where I found the war hammer a while back.

A few tokens- a 2 month AA one, an aluminum "Grand Slam", a 2 1/2 cent one with "C.C." on the back, which I haven't tracked down yet, and a toasty one mil emergency school tax from 1935 ( to keep the schools open during the depression).

More religious tokens: a large one from 1980, and a little Italian aluminum one that's marked 1880 - I don't know about that - it's in pretty good shape. I suppose someone could have dropped it recently... did they make aluminum ones that far back?

Here are some finds from two days ago; I collect keys & locks, so I like the keyhole and the little colonial looking pendant or charm (it's quite thin - from a necklace or bracelet, I think). and the dog tag collection is growing!

John, I would make some spoon rings, but I haven't found enough spoons yet!

The all important orbs, and half of what would have been a very nice little cast iron milk truck. The crimestoppers whistle should come in handy, though.

I found the other half of a heart pendant that I had found a while back. It was in some stone foundation ruins. Also, a couple of pieces of costume jewelry.

Some other highly collectible treasures:

A small fortune in buttons, buckles and grooming aids:

I did find my first Silver City bottled Dr. Pepper bottle - imperfect, but a keeper for now.

It's almost as if the local townspeople rebelled against time keeping devices...
<img src="http://imageshack.us/a/img689/6100/tl9w.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" border="0"/>
A little iron - I like the button hook, door lock, and big chain - I'll hang a plant from it

OK, my REAL favorite find is the 'Do It In the Truck' patch, complete with shaking truck graphic! Also, another brass pin and two ad plates for Sinclair-izing your car.

I christened the new sand scoop with a maybe one hour hunt - it's already starting to pay for itself, heh.

I always come home with a few pounds of brass, copper and lead...

I think that's it for tonight - Oh, yeah - don't leave those old license plates laying around - I made over $250 so far this month on ebay with 'em - got $100 for one and $88 for another - bought my scoop and some other toys.
Best of luck in the hunt to all!!
