Here's the finds I made Saturday and Sunday Morning, at least for the most part.

Got down to Lamoure, N.D. late Friday Night. Saturday morning, I decided to give an area a try by the Depot in town. It has a Park on one side and on the other side is something like vacant lots. When I drove by the Ball Diamond, I noticed that some tree's had been removed from a yard across the street. It looked as if the house was about to be torn down also, so I decided to go over to the vacant lot side of the Depot and see if I couldn't find something before the Hunt started at Noon. Me and a few other guys had found a few Wheats and an Indian Head here the year before so I knew there was a chance to find something Old here. I started out with the Stock Coil and got a 23-24 Signal right away that only showed about 2" Deep. I decided to see what it was since it started to lock onto 24 on Digital. I dug it and out popped a Ring. Cool! I then started walking and got about half-way into the lot when I got a Double Signal, about 3" apart. It was a Signal that sounded a lot like what a piece of Copper Wire would do if it was laying horizontally in the ground when you swept over it. I decided to dig it and found out that the Signal was to the side a bit more. I dug out more dirt and stuck the Probe in and High Tone starts screaming. I got excited since I knew it had to be Silver so I dug out more and found it in the pile. I picked it up and seen the back first, which told me Seated Dime. I then flipped it over and found it was dated 1887. What a find to make as the first Coin on Saturday Morning. I then went and used the Joey Coil since the Seated was only 6" Deep. I hunted a bit longer and found 2 Wheats and decided to go check out the House that was going to get torn down.

This was about 9:00am and headed over to the house. I seen a young guy filling up a Chainsaw over at a shop next to the House so I stopped and asked him who owned the property. He told me to go talk to Les that was in the Skid-steer tearing out Tree's. I chatted with Les and he said go ahead. I detected for a bit and only found a few Wheats and I told him I would come back Sunday to try it more. He said go ahead. I headed to the Hunt at 11:00am. I also found 3 Wheats in the Park area at the Hunt that were actual lost Coins.

Sunday Morning, I decided to go try the House Lot again. I started out along the side of the House and about half-way between the length of the House, I got a 28 Signal. I dug it and out pop's a Silver Washington Quarter. I thought for sure it was Barber but wasn't that Lucky. I then popped out 2 Wheats and a War Nickel in the same spot. I headed out to the backyard and found a Wheat Penny there also. Most of the backyard was piled with tree's so I will have to try that again when they remove them.

I then headed over to the Railroad Park next to the Depot. I started hunting and found a Wheatie a few minutes into the hunt. I then went to go get the Joey Coil since the Wheatie found was only 2" Deep. I got half-way between the Van and where I just dug the Wheatie and got a 24-26 Signal next to a round flower bed in the Park. I decided to see what it was since it showed about 6" Deep. Out pop's a Penny. I noticed it was a Wheat Penny and was about to put it in my pouch. Then it hit me! I better see what the date is since it read low on the Digital. I rubbed off the date and seen 1909-S.:yikes: I knew it was a good one since the regular S starts out at what I thought was $45. That must have been in the 2007 Redbook since in the 2008 it is $65. Anyways, I didn't even flip it over to see if it had a VDB on the back but then realized what I had. I think I was in a bit of shock to see something like this come out of the Park. I flipped it over and No VDB. DARN!!! Oh Well! That is the first 09-S Wheatie I have dug and there is only a bit of wear on one Wheat Ear. Book on it is $100 in F-12. Not a bad Coin to pop out since the Find Of The Month was going to be held after the Hunt on Sunday. I headed over across the street to a small grass area that I have never tried before. It was about time to leave to the Hunt so I just wanted to check it out real quick. Walked in and popped a Merc right off the bat. I then got interrupted by Rich Alfano when he pulled up to me in his Van blaring the Horn at me. I told him I just dug a Merc and also told him I just dug a 1909-S Wheatie from the Park. He didn't really know what to say at first. He was in shock! You see, Saturday Night I was over by some Buildings at the Hunt and found 3 Wheats there. His kid on Saturday Night asked if I had found anything over there. Rich told him 3 Wheat Pennies. He asked if any of them were any good ones. Rich told him No, because if he would have found anything good, he would have said something like a 1909-S Wheatie. He told me this and I just started laughing since I just pulled a Coin that he just talked about the Night Before. What are the odds of that happening??? I then headed to the Hunt and showed a few guys my latest prize. They couldn't believe it either.

After the Hunt, Dale and I went back to the Park and hunted for a bit. I got a couple Wheats and Dale got a Merc and 2 Wheats as well. We then headed over to Les's House to give it a try. I pulled a Merc and Dale finally pulls 2 Barber Dimes and some Wheats from the Church next door. I also found a Wheat here. Les told me next time down, he would take me to a few spots to see what else I could dig up. He was amazed at my finds that I showed him since I had the Monthly Finds in the Van with me. I maybe even can get into his neighbors yards also.

I hope the stories I post here aren't a bother but I like giving you the feeling of actually being there, digging the finds I make, and what kinds of Signals I was getting to find these Coins and other finds I make. Onto the Totals.

For Silver, I found 4 which were 1 Silver Washington Quarter dated 1944-d, 1 Seated Dime dated 1887, and 2 Mercury Dimes dated 1942 and 1943-s. I found 2 Nickels. 1 is a War Nickel dated 1943-p and the other is an Older Jefferson Nickel dated 1946-d. I found 19 Wheat Pennies also. They are dated 09-s,11,18,19,20,25-d,25-s,27-d,33-d,35,36,39-d,39-s,(2)42-d,46-d,52-d,53-d, and 55. For Misc., I found 1 Kid's Ring, 2 Pins, and a Button that reads Hermann & Cownie Co. That's the finds from last weekend. Enjoy! Good Luck and HH to you all. Enjoy the Pics. Good Luck and HH.[attachment 91721 09-sFront.jpg][attachment 91725 09-sBack.jpg][attachment 91726 33-dFront.jpg][attachment 91727 33-dBack.jpg]

I am glad that it was in kind soil also. Turned out very nice, just dipped it in a quick Peroxide bath to get the rest of the dirt off. Then took some Dawn Dish Soap and a Soft Toothbrush and did some light scrubbing to remove any other blemishes or dirt. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH when you get out.

Especially in good condition. A lot of the Wheats are normally full of crud and are heavily pitted. Got real lucky with the 09-s I guess. Good Luck and HH.

James you say ~ "I hope the stories I post here aren't a bother but I like giving you the feeling of actually being there,"

I don't find it a bother at all, I personally enjoy sharing the hunt with you...

Another great hunt under your belt !
It seems like another good hunting season is opening up for you ...:detecting:

I don't know your key date coins, ~ you do very readable posts James.

But I would rather tell how the finds unfolded than just post them without any details at all. I think it also motivates others to get out and find sites in hopes of doing well also, with the posts I do. Thanks for the vote of confidence Snowy and Good Luck and HH to you this weekend.
