Hey Digger How do you get the Etrac to sound like the 705?

The 705 seems so easy compared to the E-Trac... distinctive chirps for good targets and fast response. The Etrac needs to be worked slower but the target sounds are slurry compared to the clear silver separate sounds the 705 produces. I run the 705 in All Metal with no problem, Been using the Minelabe coin pattern and modified pattern and really experimented with settings today trying to get the same sounds from both machines...is this possible? Tried going AllMetal no discrimination on the Etrac but it was too much noise compared to my 705. Help!!!

if you tried all metall without discrimination in conductive its should be noise and confusing, switch to ferrous sound and all iron will be low sounds. if you want to get from etrac more like exterrra switch to two or four sounds respond. But maybe you use to high sensitivity?

Try adjusting your variability and threshold pitch to see if you can achieve the sounds you are looking for. I used a Safari before getting the E-Trac and the Safari had a unmistakeable tone when the coil went across silver that the E-Trac did not. After some experimenting with the above adjustments my E-Trac is very close. You can use your Sun-Ray probe to move targets under which makes it easier than running targets under your big coil. Hope this helps. HH :minelab:

Until you work your way up to multi tones, try using 4 tone conductive sounds. I tried using the multi tones when I had the Xterra 705 and it was too "busy" so I usually used the 4 tone option. I do the same with the Etrac unless I use TTF. Either of these give me a much better and less annoying hunt. Just what works for me.

Just learn to use the E-trac and quit trying to make it behave like something else!

Stock coins mode. Take out top right. Auto sensitivity and slow WAY down. Listen for good solid repeatable hits.

Since were talking about two entirely different technologies, they won't sound alike. For guys making the transition from the X-TERRA to the E-TRAC, I don't think it is as much as making the E-TRAC sound like the X-TERRA as it is making ourselves recognize the sounds of targets with each detector. Being metal detectors, there are similarities with multiple tone mode on each. But realize that the X-705 has 28 possible tones in the multiple tone mode. And when hunting in conductive audio with the E-TRAC, you have 50 possible tones in multiple tone mode. As such, your E-TRAC may sound like it is making more noise. But it is still making one audio response on each target, same as the X-TERRA. You just happen to have a wider range of tones to decipher. It now becomes the matter of you learning what those tones represent. If they sound slurry, slow down even more and let the processor sort out the harmonics. Once you learn how to isolate and zero in on a target, the audio response should become stable and provide just as much information as it did for you on the X-TERRA. And if you listen carefully, with 50 possible tones instead of 28, it can provide even more. JMHO HH Randy
