Hit The Nickel Trifecta Today

Took my E-trac to a well searched park today and with the SEF 15X12 and the D.O.C. swingy thingy, pulled a buffalo nickel, a V nickel, & a shield nickel. All were pulled between 7-8 inches. Unfortunately I can only read one date 1906 on the V nickel, I can make out the shield and the buffalo on the other. The numbers on the E-trac were all over the place when I glanced at the screen and the signals were broken, not coming in crisp, but it was a repeatable signal from both directions. They were 3/4 down on the depth meter so I figured it was worth digging even though the sounds were broken at times. It is hard to see the shield and the V in the pictures as you have to turn the coin for the light to reflect it the right way.

That's pretty awesome! Not too many pull the trifecta....should of went for the grandslam and got a war nickel...lol. I love the old nickels, some of my favorite coins to pull.

I love the designs on the nickles. Especially the shield nickle's vintage style and design are so cool but hard to find any that are in good enough shape to get a good look at. A shiney find is a very rare occurance. I have tried this little trick I read about here on the fourm. Take a small Ketchup container you get at one of the food places around and stick your nickle in for a day or week. The acid helps clean the dark off a bit but is not too harsh. OF course...ONLY do this on the coins that are in rough shape and not to any that U define as very valuable. Mine have turned out pretty good and cleaned up as good as can be expected.

Great trifecta!

I like it ! :clapping:

Excellent Don, I also love digging nickles and it sux that the erosion got the best of them.

Thanks for pic's and congrats,

Moose
