Deeponedge...my hunting buddy Darrell...who is better known as "HeavyD"..wanted to go hunting for a while today.

He likes using my coils...so I get to use HIS E-Trac when he does.
Pretty fair swap wouldn't you say.:smoke:

Anyway I am VERY impressed with his E-Trac and although I love my explorer and it is my #1 machine:clapping:...I like to use his E-Trac at different sites just as I use different coils in different situations.

We hunted a park where I just found an 1892-O Barber quarter 3 days ago.
Today though I hunted in a very sandy area and I assure you it has been thoroughly explored for years...and E-Tracked heavily the last 2 years.
.
So much so that I can't even get Guvner to drive here to hunt with me anymore.:help:

Anyone who says the E-Trac won't hit deep coins is CRAZY.

Anyone who says the E-Trac is hard to learn is CRAZY.

Anyone who says it is not a turn on and go machine is...well...you get the picture.

These coins are from 3 hours of me hunting with "Heavy D's" E-Trac and they were very deep.

I dug to China for the quarter and when it came out of the crusty, muddy sand I said "Well... Frick" ...it's freakin' clad". NO "F"ing way a clad quarter should be that deep.:smoke:
Actually my words were a little more harsh...but you get the picture.:)

In case you are wondering...YES I was talking to myself.:bouncy:

It was crusted with sand and dark black...and I did not even know it was silver until I went to the car to thaw out my hands. Then I thought I noticed a little shiny rim peeking through.:surprised:

2 of the wheaties were a measured 10" deep...and the other 3 were all at 9" deep.

The black quarter was an honest... and measured 11" deep.

"Heavy D" found 2 wheaties and broke out of the silver slump with a deep Roosey. He was using my 15" WOT coil and my SE. for the wheaties...and found the deep merc using the Sunray X-12 on my SE.

He has an EX2...an SE...and the E-Trac...yet not only does he rarely use his E-Trac...he also chooses to use MY SE....and MY coils because he thinks my coils and machines are lucky...and his are cursed:crylol:

Man what a fun few hours.

You need to tone it down a bit Bryce :sleepy: You keep sharing how great the E-Trac is and every one will get one and find all the goodies.Besides we don't want to see the market flooded with used V3s and F75s
One question on a more serious note,Are you moving faster with the E-Trac than you would with your SE,Ray.

Great finds, Makes me feel a little better, I haven't been able to really get my Trac out and do some testing. This is encouraging thanks.

It is so smooth that I sometimes do find myself going faster.
I am a "creeper" though:biggrin:...and am so used to feeling confident when I creep with the SE...that I like to slow down and do the same with his E-Trac.

When I slowed down today...the E-Trac just seemed to "lock on" to the deepies when I went over them.

Thank for the response and as for being a "creeper" I think I heard the Guv say you were kinda slow............

and methodical when detecting:thumbup:

just ordered me one tonight, cant wait intil i get it. also bought the book from andy. i will take it to the places where i used my DFX.

Hey Bryce, congrats and thanks for sharing the depth of your finds. Do you recall what was the average sensitivity during your hunt? Were you using Auto + ?
Golden Gate Park soil can be really sandy in places too and I'm always wondering if I should crank the sensitivity up in manual and live with the extra chatter.

Thanks
-Alex

These detectors are smooth running, they do find deep good targets many close to trash that other detectors cant see and the E-Tracs are not that hard to use. Those that have used the Explorers and the E-Tracs and know the E-Trac runs different than the Explorers can see what this E-Trac can do. It is not for everyone, but I sure do like mine and how it works and seem to use it more than my Sovereign GT last year which also a great detector and has proven itself to be one of the all time best detectors and feel the E-Trac will also be also.
I think many put down the E-Trac when it first came out as they didn't understand it, but that also was the case with the Explorers too back in 1999 as there was quite a few negative post, but after everyone seen what it could do in some peoples hands they knew it was because they spent the time to get to know it. We are now seeing this with the E-Trac too as we see more great finds with some coming out of areas that have been hit hard with the Explorers and other top of the line detectors. Myself I have seen more good coins close to trash and iron with the E-Trac and I am sure others have too.

Good luck and hope you can use the E-Trac more and post more great finds.

Rick

I switched over to manual sensitivity. I didn't look at the screen when I got signals...and hunted by SOUND ALONE.

Sound has always been the key for me on the explorers and it is no different here on the E-Trac.

I just use the screen on my SE as an additional tool when deciding whether or not to dig if need be.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the E-Trac and have NO fear of it "messing" with my mojo on the explorers.

I was worried if I "piddled" with both that it might screw up what I have spent years training my ears to hear....but I was WRONG.

I have no intention of switching from the explorers...but I do feel I can definitely find some coins missed by my other machines...just as a different coil can do different things. I can use Darrell's E-Trac as an additional weapon to find some more stuff.

It was like hunting with an old friend that has LEARNED SOME NEW TRICKS...and I LIKED IT:clapping:

It is a VERY SMOOTH running machine:thumbup:

I don't see how anyone could pick up this machine...turn it on...hunt with it right out of the box...and not like it.

Thanks for the comments Rick...and take care.

Now, I admit what it is telling you, is different from the explorer, but from my experience it was me not the machine. When that tone changes, its telling you something, pay attention. My last "coin" if you want to call it that was completely corroded on the inside and had nothing left of it but an outside rim from 7 inches down and caked in rust! It was all but dissolved but the E-trac was screaming. The E-trac has unbelievable feed-back, the key to the machine is the audio no doubt. Its Minelab's Mercedes in my opinion. That silk smooth audio just talks to you..............IF YOU LISTEN! Where anyone gets the idea its hard to use is beyond me, Push the on button, its ready....................People are way way underestimating this machine Bryce as I think you are seeing also, but it surprises me just about every time I take it out. My advice: don't get one!

Wow Bryce, if 1940s silver is THAT deep, yikes, what does that say for older coins? Unless there is a dense clay layer at around 10-11 inches that prevents things from sinking even deeper..... Digging silver that deep is ultra-impressive. What were your settings? - Jim

Try this place a dime on the ground and a 2 or 3 in rusted nail on top of the dime. You will use the E-TRAC more , also when you hear the dime swing as fast as you want over it You will use the E-TRAC more. Soon you will have a E-TRAC .Keep telling my friend if BRYCE had a E-TRAK there would be no coins left behind.
