(Hoping and) praying...

Pete in MI

New member
I traded a nice detector awhile back to another Brother in Christ for a couple GPS units...not a wise move...didn't know the value of the GPS and then when the same Brother wanted to get one of them back for his Dad I gladly gave it to him (free).

I was offered to use the detector any time I wanted so just sent him a message asking to borrow it as Sherry and I will be going to the U.P. (Marquette) from Sep 2 until the 5th to celebrate our 9th anniversary together as husband and wife.

I am hoping and praying that maybe the Brother will decide to sell it back to me or maybe give it back since he doesn't use it either. One can only hope and pray. Whatever God decides in the matter will be fine with me. I keep kicking myself for trading it off to begin with...guess I was more attached to it as it served me so well for many years (over 100 rings found with it just in Lansing, MI alone).

The GPS units if I had both of them would be less than 50 bucks each. And the detector (with carrying case and 3 coils) was/is worth much more. Hoping and praying the Brother decides he doesn't want it any more and will sell it back to me or even give it to me (a guy can dream right).

Just remember, it is Gods Will, Not ours ok. Seek Him with ALL your heart in ALL things ok. PEACE:RONB :wiggle:

Happy Anniversary to you, Pete and Sherry! I pray that God will move on this Brother's heart and urge him to give the detector back to you or sell it back at a reasonable price! I don't want to part with mine either, as it served me well for many years! Didn't find the rings like you did but did find coins and relics which was fun when I could go :detecting: God is good and He is good all the time....so believe and receive His blessings and they will be many! May God bless you many times over with what your heart desires and have a nice safe trip to the UP and back! Amen! Ma Betty

i would ask him straight out to give it back and that you would give him back the other gps unit .

Hope you two have a great time in the UP. Congrats on 9 years.
Hope the detector deal works out.

Picked it up last night and talked about 'getting some practice in' before going to the UP. His wife said they had to look for it because it hasn't been used in a long time (thinking about 2 years now since he and I and another guy went out detecting together).

When we get back I will ask him if he will sell it back to me since it isn't being used. I didn't get everything (the bag or other coils with it last night but can do well with the coil that is on it). Don't have a pinpointer but I know his wife bought him a nice one so when I get back will ask about buying that from him as well.

The detector isn't a Minelab but sure is lighter...not lighter than the Garrett 250. It is a Garrett GTAx 1250 that I used at one of the CMD forum hunts where I picked up an Indian or two. I think I stand a good chance of him selling it back to me...still hoping and praying.

I know this unit better than the Explorer 2 and for depth it hit 9 inches on a single buck shot BB. Doubt if I will be in a position to get another Minelab (unless I hit it big in the Lottery - which I don't play or my ship - the USS Titanic - comes in). So here is hoping for the best.

I am hoping to hit an area at the air force base (that was closed in 1985) and hoping no one else ever hit it with a detector). The base was opened in the 1950s. The area has not been maintained so last time I was up there around 2000 the area was getting overgrown with small trees Not sure about the rest of the area being accessible but potential is there. Will check too behind the Law Enforcement Desk building as I know over the years of operation some of the LE guys and gals lost their badges and the snow plows pushed the snow and badges into piles so will hit those areas too.

We are considering moving to the Marquette area sometime in the future and want to spend time seeing the changes over the years and getting an idea what to look forward to (if and) when we move,

Oh I went through my garage and guess what I found :) ? Fishing poles. I live at the largest in land fresh water lake in Michigan and have no boat but I do have fishing poles.

17 poles. Opps 18 counting the little ice fishing pole on the left.

Need a boat

Have a blessed day,

Pete

Hi Pete! It sounds like you will have a good trip and glad you were able to get the detector to use and wish you God's blessings on being able to detect that area and find some good stuff! I think you need more arms and hands to handle all those fishing poles! May God bless you and Sherry with a nice safe trip of wondrous enjoyment in our Lord Jesus Christ! Amen! Enjoy and have fun and get lots of restful sleep! Ma Betty

Thanks CJM and when two or more are gathered together Jesus is in the midst and with Him in the midst when the Saints pray we are all together in one accord! Amen! Nice sparkling eagle with red, white and blue! :) Ma Betty

When ya have no boat. Go dirt fishing! :detecting:
