How did everyone do this weekend?

Hello All,
Hit a virgin grass parking lot yesterday...$11+ in clad with only one wheatie. ( 30 quarters, 29 dimes, 9 nickels, 46 pennies) 3 key rings (only one had keys) and a costume ring. The quarters were singing like angels 38-39's, no doubt when I hit them. Most everything was 3" or less. Good thing since the ground was like cement. And I did less then half the parking lot.

Wow thats what I call virgin turf. Great job,Boy when you get in a spot like that you just can't stop digging.Bofore you know it the hours go by.It's amazing all that clad people have been walking over and not even knowing it.Bettter search the other half just in case there is more (Ha,Ha) I went to a soccerfield-park this week .Found 53 clad coins and an old token Round about 1 5/8 in diameter made in aluimnum says Wilkes-barre/ home 1951 one one side And it lists all the teams Dodgers,Triplets,Tigers etc..It has an ad for Sonnybrook Whiskey on other side. Kool find.

Cool sounding token Dave, would love to see a picture!! I have flown into Wilkes-Barrre a time or two over the years. Is that the area you are from or just a lost token?

Funny how you likened the ground to cement. Thats exactly how I described it to my brother. I went out 2 weeks ago at a park that I have detected before. With hardly any rain to speak of all summer. It was like digging into the sidewalk, cutting a plug was tough, the dirt crumbled and turned into dust. This is in western,Ma. I found some clad and a watch, nothing to special. It is raining out right now as I type, much much needed. I feel bad for a lot of people with shallow wells as most have gone dry or are constantly clogging up with sediment. I will be going to the beaches on the Atlantic Seaboard this coming Saturday, my boys love to use my Whites xlt. I really like my safari it is a great all around machine that is never affected by the black sand close to the water. I got a giant heavy duty scoop that really digs deep with not much effort. Keep it up with all those cool finds !!! Ron

Bunky, great hunt, albeit clad...but, hey,it's still legal tender and sure beats the alternative !
Dan-o- nice hunt there for you, too. Love those v nickels. Last month I scored my first -a worn 1903 & I believe Bunky also recovered his first. Post some pics if you don't mind.

Sunday am hunt was tough digging here in central Jersey,too. Real teaser came within first couple minutes..A repeatable 31-32 tid with high pitch and I had visions of a mans wedding band going through my mind.. 5 inches down saw what appeared gold, so started using only my hands to retrieve with my pulse picking up.Saw how thick it was and softly broke off dirt clumps not knowing exact design or composition. Forced myself to wait until taking a water break to go back to car and then clean it off. Deflated state of mind took over as rinsing water revealed a falcon & full wingspan losing color towards the bottom of the ring and no markings whatsoever inside. In addition, recovered a Ben Franklin Historic Trail medallion- a cool find, second one of these I've recovered, it's stamped 1975 on the reverse ..

kschae4- Sweet ring even if it wasn't marked, very unusual. I like the Franklin coin as well. He is one of my favorite founding fathers. In my opinion, I would consider him the true "Father of our Country" from all that he did. Cool find.

Dan O- Nice pix. Thanks for posting! Can't wait to find more Indian Heads. I have found only one to date, a 1903. Funny, all my oldest coins have been 1903s. A Barber dime a V nickel and the IH. Popular year around here I guess. Guess that soldier was behind a machine gun or something like that.

Nice pics, Dan-o. Thanks Bunky...maybe 1903 could be your lucky lottery number, who knows ? The few v nickles I've seen posted seem pretty worn, including my 1903, which I periodically bathe in olive oil hoping for improved detail...oh well, wishful thinking.
