How do you store your coins?

Hi All,

Wrapping up my season here and was wondering what people use to store and keep their coins nice? I know Terry (G4E) has a great guide on his site with instructions for cleaning finds, but I am interested in hearing how you store them - what types of holders, maybe they vary on the coin and the condition? Any pros/cons for the different holders?

I want to get my finds cleaned up and stored properly and would appreciate understanding the different ways that everyone manages their finds as a guide to properly building out my collection!

Thanks in advance!

Once cleaned, they go in small ziplocks. Key coins go in by themselves. Not into displaying my treasure. Wouldn't want some pirate to come along. HH Mike

I use Safe T Flips
They store nicely allow you to see both sides of the coin and take the coin out if you want. They are also inexpensive.

I use the coin holders you staple they come in packs of 100 and they're real cheap they have boxes to hold them in too. Its an inexpensive route to go and works real good

I use the 2x2 flips for good date coins, or cool tokens. I also bought several 16 x 20" glass display cases I have filled. And all the common date silver coins I have in plastic coin tubes.

I put all my silver in 2x2 flips regardless. This gives me the ability to put a date of when I found it, plus where I've found it. Then I can look back and see which sites produced the most during a season etc. It can be good info to have.

This is exactly what I do as well. I don't find as much as some of these people do So I like to show the finds I have in a binder. Makes it fun. Helps me keep track of my finds and my kids can look at them and enjoy them

I Would not use zipplocs. The chemicals will hurt coins. 2by2 flips will do the same thing over time. And you are running a risk with the staples scratching coins. I use chemicaly inert clear flip [pouches. They are used by museums. I picked up a hundred of them for 6 bucks. You can also get pocket pages that are clear and the flips fit inside. It has a perferated edge for 3 ring binders. coinsupplies dot com

The 2x2 flips don't hurt the coins. Most now are made with mylar for the clear part and cardboard. What you are thinking of is the ones made with pvc. Those aren't the cardboard 2x2 flips. I put all my coins in these without worries:thumbup:
