How do your clean your coins?

Bilko

New member
I've tried so many things but they still go green!!! I just use a toothbrush for silver

SOUNDS NASTY BUT I USE KETCHUP ON BOTH SIDES LIVE DAM THERE OVER NIGHT AND THEN BY THE NEXT DAY THE KETCHUP WILL BE ALL GREEN AND THE COIN CLEAN. THERES MANY WAYS TO DO IT

I use a cheap rock tumbler from Harbor Freight with very small, smooth fish tank pebbles from WalMart. I add about a tablespoon or two of liquid dish washing soap and a small amount of 409 and in 12 hours the coins come out looking like new. I would suggest that if the coins you're cleaning are anything but everyday clad to cash in, you keep the pennies seperate because the other coins will take on a copper color. I have actually had nickels, dimes and quarters come out looking like they have been copper plated but I did leave the tumber running for over 24 hours on that occassion. Hope this helps, HH Nampa 23.

I have a silver coin with blackish tarnish on part of it. It's not a key date or anything so what's the best way to clean that off?

i use one of those silver cleaning impregnated soft clothes you can get from a bed, bath and beyond. works pretty good with some elbow grease.

tarn-x works great just drop silver in a little of this stuff and the tarnish will go away in a few seconds. leaves the silver looking new and shining.
