How does it work here?

Exactly what are the procedures for buying and selling here? If you post," I will take it", does that not constitute a deal?
Can it then be sold to someone in private? Maybe a friend or hunting buddy?
That's twice someone has posted an item for sale, and then it's not available anymore.
How about a little common courtesy?

It also depends if your post was the first response as many buyers PM the seller instead of posting I will take item.

You might be the first to post on the forum, but many sales are made by Personal Messages, phone or by Email ahead of the first post. The vast majority of sellers on here are very honest people and the sale usually goes to the first person who contacts them offering what the seller wants.

i agree with larry, i have made 4 or 5 purchases on here and all have been true to their word.I believe there is a feedback forum for bad deals?

I always use pm on purchases and then I make a post. I have had nothing but good dealings on here.

Also the same person posting an item for sale is, more than likely, posting that same item on multiple boards. So it is very possible that someone on another board has replied sooner than a reply post here! Hence the 'sorry already sold' replies that you see.

All this certainly makes sense. However, several people posted to buy different items. Hours later, seller posted all items sold, but no mention of who the buyers were. I had to send an email to find out if I was the buyer or not.
I made a purchase from a vendor at his site and paid thru Paypal, only to find out days later that it was sold elsewhere. Why was it listed on the website and why was I allowed to send money for something that was not even available? I did get a refund, and an apology, but come on people, communicate!!!

I understand your frustration, but it seems like you're lecturing everybody when the vast majority of transactions happen on this forum with no problems and satisfaction on both ends.

As for the two situations you referred, if someone says something is sold and you haven't been contacted, I think it's a pretty good bet it wasn't sold to you. I agree with you, that seller certainly could have shown a little more courtesy and communicated that to you.

As to the vendor you mention, is that vendor a sponsor here? If not, I don't see why that would even be mentioned.

I know most of the advertisers on this forum will bend over backwards to make sure you are satisfied.

I had an experience with Richard at Backwoods when he inadvertently told me I had something he advertised when he later realized someone else's e-mail had beaten mine by a couple minutes. He made it up to me by giving me another item at cost.

I will never pay for anything which I have not had direct communication about. You paying for something you did not have an agreement on was your fault and no one else. If you contact thru PM or email you may have better luck.

We should all take responsibility for ourselves and not be victims.

Jeff
