How does the spectrum xlt do in mineralized soil?

I am thinking about getting one of these but the soil conditions in North Georgia are highly mineralized and it consist of red clay and slate filled soil and what type of depth do you get out of these? I am also curious how accurate these are on identifying the correct target! I am currently using a Fisher 1266xb and it gets great depth even in these horrible soil conditions. Let me know if you have ever hunted with the xlts in these type soil conditions. I tried a Minelab xterra 50 and that thing was a talking chirping son of a gun in this area and I got rid of it those detectors don't like my soil conditions!!!

Well like I said it would not cooperate for this and another one of my hunting buddies bought a explorer and he said he had the same problem.

Over the years I've heard about this red clay. (Where is it all at.....Virginia to Georgia and beyond?) Sounds like tough stuff!!!

You are dead on! Right through the heart of Civil War Relic country. If you have never hunted in it, it would drive you crazy. The only detector that I have been able to get to gb is a Tesoro. But I have seen several xlt users out in the fields hunting and finding quite a few relics.

I had a minelab 305 here in Roanoke Va and it  soil is like yours.I have also used Rainbow XLT here and it gets:thumbup:

hiya,,i have a SOVEREIGN G.T..,,its probably the best for that sort of ground,????,,but i also use the WHITES SPECTRUM XLT,,and i find as much or more,, AND,, the machine constantly tracks out the ground,, and its as quiet as a mouse dooin it,,,its just the same on salt wet,,NO FUSS ,NO NOISE ,, and pulls the stuff,,i dont know if its as deep as the minelab,,,who cares ???, most machines cant get close to the G.T. in BAD GROUND because of its superior ground balance,,but the XLT seems to cope just as well, and gives you great infomation ( which the minelab g.t. dont) about the target and ground conditions,,,,,remember you can gold prospect with the XLT,,,SO ITS GOT TO TRACK OUT the very worst GROUND MINERALS to do it ,,,,, the information it gives is awesome and the i.d. is very accurate,,i love it,,wish i bought one years ago,,,my opinion is,, its a great performer and is probably the best machine i have ever used,,its right up there with the g.t. for performance in my opinion,,and i wont part with either as i totally enjoy usin them both,,,:ukflag:
