Started in 1974 with the Radio Shack electronics kit that was available at the time. They had all kinds of projects and I liked the metal detector kit, it had a red plastic box around 5 x 7 inches with all kinds of resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc. With the red box, they also provided copper wire to make your coil which was wrapped around the box. It worked pretty good for what it was worth. The next detector was a Treasure Hawk, I found all sorts of stuff, dug everything back then. In 1978, the next detector I purchased was a Whites 5000/D. I really took off with this hobby! Dug alot of silver and IH & Wheat pennies. Relic hunted in places that are considered off-limits by today's standards/laws. Throughout the years, I've owned several Garrett's and Whites detectors. Presently in Garrett's, I own: Master Hunter 7 ADS (analog meter), GTI 2500 and Ace 250; In Whites, I own: 6000/D ser. 2 (analog meter), Pro XL (analog meter) and Vision (Spectra) V3. . . And yes I use them all!
Granted, I still get out there MD, but feel the aches and pains on my knees and back these day's. Hopefully, I can keep going on for another 20 to 30 years! Man don't ya love this hobby or what!
