I've done that many times myself. A switch built into the probe holder would cure that problem.

since last week

Yep things were pretty hairy for about 10 minutes last week before I found that 1853 quarter.

Kept getting this sweet coin warble every 5 seconds or so. Then realized the probe was picking up the change in my pocket as my right leg went forward with every step

I forgot to switch back to coil the other day in a really trashy spot on the beach, I was getting upset to, when I remember to look at my switch. Good Post, I feel Better now

I don't do it as much as I used to. I thought it was old age creeping up on me. There is a measure of comfort to see others have done it also.
