How many Rings do you think I can find in one month??

Hello Everyone,

I'm excited to say I will be on vacation in Ecuador for one month?

I will be doing a lot metal detecting on the beach, swiming holes, parks etc.

My main focus will be underwater detecting at the beach and swimming holes. Ive got my cz-20 and 1280x ARMED AND READY!!!

And get this I have set a new goal for myself 50 GOLD RINGS IN ONE MONTH!!!!

Anyone out there think its possible? Id like to hear your feedback......

I would also like to hear from other that have been to South America or Ecuador esp the beaches of Salinas, Esmeraldas, Manabi

I will be bringing my digital camera and I will be making updates while im there so you can see my finds.

Steve, I don't want to burst your bubble But!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes you can find a good number of rings in a month. I have just returned from Mexico and had a similar goal, I came home with 10 rings 3 pendants of which 5 rings were gold and the pendants 1 was gold.
First off the beach conditions ie the sand depth, low tides, amount of wet sand to swing over and # of storms etc all play a part. M Ding is a numbers game hunt in the areas where there are a lots of beach activity and tourists. Look for areas where there is a fair amount of wave activity and people, talk to locals and do as much research before you leave so as not to waste your time down there. You need a long handled scoop, have lots of water available and a hat.
If you have a choice of two beaches both with about the same activity take the one with the expensiove hotels on it. Don't forget to do the Volley ball Courts, not just in bounds but a big area around the court as the rings will fly from inside the court to 4 -6 beyond the out of bounds due to sweat, suntan oils and drinking cold liquids.
How much beach water detecting have you done? I would suggest you buy Clive's book called WATER HUNTING: SECRETS OF THE PROS by CLIVE CLYNICK
Send me a PM with your ph. number. When are you planning on leaving.

Gerry

Keep an eye on your surrounding and be careful out there.
Those are third world countries and will think nothing of relieving you of your stuff

The only way to find out... is to try my friend. I for one, wish you good luck. If you find 50 rings. I will be moving to Ecuador.

Best of luck with the rings. Crime, even murder is a consideration but its worth a look at www.ecuadorliving.com.to get a real picture. Weapons are used but to threaten rarely harm so just take reasonable care. Ecuador isn't in the world top 50 for the chance of being murdered whilst the U.S. is at 24 and Mexico at number 6.

The two months ago I went to one of the least recommended islands in the Caribbean (for detecting, due to lack of nice sandy tourist beaches). In two and a half weeks I managed 37 gold and white gold and five silver rings plus a number of junk ones. I think you could make your target dependant on sand conditions or local detectorists. Have a great time !

Fine return for your efforts Brian!

Would you share your experience, methods and what equipment you used with us?

Maybe a different post rather than hijacking this thread?

GL&HH Fellow Hunter,

Thanks for the tips everybody

Let me ask you Gerry,

What part of Mexico did you detect and for how long? Did you find a good number of dollar and 50 cent coins?

The vollyball courts are my favorite place to detect on dry sand.

I go to the beach probably a handful of times a year but My main thing is swimming holes. I go to one every chance I get. Thats what I plan on doing mostly in Ecuador.

Im only going to be at the beach for 3 days or so

A friend of mine got me into water hunting swimming holes, he practically made a living going to swimming holes in all the central states missisipi, missouri etc using his cz 20

He is the best detectorist I know.

I went to a swimming hole with him one time and in one day he found more than 10 gold rings, I had the surf pi pro and I found one junk ring

What do you think I ended up buying? , we even did a air test comparing the two , the surf pi pro would not hit on white gold not a beep on max sensitivity and 0 discrimination

Best of luck to you and I hope you reach your goals. My goal is to find gold on my next swing of the coil but apparently I'm hunting in the wrong places. Good luck and HH :minelab:

It must have been a lemon, if it would not hit white gold.

Got a 14 K White Gold Ring with the LS last year, no problem finding the White Stuff with the Infinium.

Nice Haul!
