how much depth above the water ?

targits

Well-known member
say i am detecting above shallow fresh water without the underwater kit how deep i can i get a signal say if the water is 6 inches deep ?or 12 inches deep above the river bed
SHOULD IT CORRESPOND WITH NORMAL DEPTHS on land ? on say a coin or gold ring that is 6 - 2 inches deep in the river bed ?the wifi signal can still reach the remote control

Do you mean swinging the coil itself above water while your standing in ankle deep water??

If so it would penetrate shallow targets under the water in gravel but in mud or sand where targets can sink deeper it would be hard to say.

I want to know how much water above the coil or rather what maximum depth can you get a signal without the water kit? Does it work in a stream that is a foot deep? Or break signal beyond a few inches?

yep i am in shallow water ankle deep with coil just skimming the surface and still able to transmit wifi to the remote .hence how deep into the gravel can i expect to see targets.??
i have the underwater kit but its a lot of faffing about with dangling cable..

i can answer my own question as today i had a good signal in 6 inches of water with the 11 coil just above the water and i dug down 12 inches with a scoop and no sign of a target so i have to retrn with a shovel to dig it out at an unknown depth so it looks deeep
