how to make adapter to charge ML battery,,,,

grouser

New member
I have a better charger (Triton) that I want to use to charge my standard ML re-chargable pack. I found a plug that looks and fits like the standard charger that ML supplies but when I put a test lead to it I get less than a 1 volt reading on a fully charged pack. If I put the test leads on the big silver contacts on the end of the battery I get just over 11 volts. Is there a anti reversal-one way thingie resister-maroo on there causing this? Should I just charge it thru the contacts on the end? Thanks

Yes, I believe it has some special circuitry in the factory rechargeable packs when you charge it using the charging port i understand and know my Sovereign GT has it too. Now when Sun Ray made a charging cradle it would charge the battery though the contact on the end of the pack, so these even worked for the alkaline pack with rechargeable batteries. You might be able to find a used one as they don't make them anymore, or make you own set up so you charge from the contact on the end of the pack. I seen one where they used a 9 volt battery connector as it will fit on the end of the pack for charging and had a rubber band that held the connector in place to charge the battery.

in minelab rechargeable battery is small circuitry-where you connect charger, but dont worry if your battery is charging.

thanks gents,,,, great idea on the 9v plug,,,,, is there any reason to use the charging port over the contacts on the ends in your opinion ?

I think best to use absolutely different battery with stable 12V output, because originals rechargeable is not perfect. million different options.

thanks for the help !!!
