How we set volume and gain.

Is there a perfect setting? Or does it really not matter? I have not given it much thought. Higher gain = deeper targets heard more clearly. Volume overall. Threshold also. Just curious what is a good mix and is there a correct order to get the right mix to hear deep whispers? I mean do you fix threshold first then gain, then volume?

You have the order correct . But what deep whispers are you talking about if your gain is set at 30 all targets will be at the same level of intensity another words no whispers .To get deep whispers one would have to lower gain to 15 or lower surface targets will be loud deep targets harder to hear over the surface targets .That makes the deep targets harder to hear keep it at 30 and adjust volume . sube
