Hunt for GOLD turned into Nickel Night....AGAIN

well once again, went to the old park hunting for gold.....and once again it turned into NICKEL night.....AGAIN!

I am not complaining, but sure would like to score a gold ring, I have dedicated a LOT of hours this season on digging low conductors specifically looking for gold, ANY gold......

I did score 3 more buffalos from this park, have gotten about 8 there this season. I don't think anyone ever digs nickel signals there. Got 2 buttons, and 7 wheats. The nails were in the holes with 3 of the wheats. I got a tiny little high blip, then null. Could not get it to sound diggable UNTIL I flipped it into TTF and the coin literally screamed out. TTF rocks.....oldest wheat was 1910.

ONE day, someday....I will dig gold!! I promise...lol

One thing I can say is that trying for gold has gotten me a lot of knowledge on finding OLDER nickels. The etrac is a nickel magnet, but you got to be willing to dig BOUNCY low conductors to find em. The lowest one tonight was the real worn buffalo, it came in at 06-08

Very nice Terry! Thanks for the pictures and the insight!

You will find gold soon,i have had better luck at soccer fields than in parks.
but you never know where you are gonna find something gold.
Takes a lot of digging,my want list is specifically for a gold coin.
Some of the tiny ones read way way low.
Some day!
Best of luck.

I call that a successful hunt! I know what you mean, I am still looking for that first gold ring as well. I think I need to concentrate on those numbers too!

Nice finds, you got 3 more B's (Buffalo's) Thanks for the good pictures. -- Randy

Looks like you will have to break out the nickadate on this one to see what you have. Nice hunt. You are so close to getting gold. Imagine it's there and you will find it. Nice finds. Metalmiester

Nice group on nickels you got there.........sooner or later it will happen, the gold that is!!! HH - Hawkeye Jim.

Nice bunch of Nickels there! I love to find Nickels, is it just me because of the challenge of them or does most people feel that way?

Just to rub a little salt:poke: I have two gold rings with my ET this month. Both 14K, one at 12/20, the other at 12/27, 3.2g and 5.8 g respectively. Terry in San Diego

yep I agree it is a challenge because nickels are NEVER 12-12 or 12-13 for me, except modern shallow ones....around here they are always super bouncy and come in all over the place on numbers

I'll take a small heard of Buffalo's any day, I too love the nickles. I am however in the same boat as many, (no gold).

Congrats on the finds, looks like it was a busy day.

I've been doing the same thing except I don't get as many buffalo nickels! Haven't found gold all year! Think this is the longest dry spell on gold for me since I first started detecting in 1999. Heck I even found more than one gold ring the first year I started! Let's see who scores gold first :twodetecting:
