Hunt with Dad the night before his surgery put a smile on his face:angel:

[attachment 161451 dad5.jpg] What you see in the pics are actually smiles on my dad's face believe it or not. What a hectic last couple of weeks I have had...but at least all is well at this point.

I want to thank everyone who messaged me or responded to my previous posts about my Dad.

He made it through the surgery ok but what a nightmare it was.

We got there at 10:00....dad was prepped...on IV's...and laying there to have the surgery at 11:00 as scheduled.

They called us into the prep room to visit with him at 10:30...and said they would come get him by 11:00.

An hour later at 12:00...we're all still sitting there.

At 1:00 we're all still sitting there. :smoke:

At 2:00...we're all still sitting there. :smoke:

At 2:15...my dad is ready to punch somebody's lights out :bouncy: :super: :lmfao:

Finally at 2:40 they came and got him....nearly 4 hours late!

The nite before is when I gave him his XLT I bought for him so he could have some fun.]

It cleared his head for a while..put a smile on his face...and he did a little diggin' too.

What was really cool is that he dug up the lid to an old Ball mason jar from about 8" deep.

Why is that cool?...well because I have a site on private property where a mason jar full of old silver was rumored to be buried where an old moonshine still once stood.

It gave us quite a thrill when he uncoverd the lid. I set the camera down and we both started scrapin away hopin' to see the silver coins come rollin' out from underneath.:)

We were both like 2 little kids again...smilin' and diggin'....dirt was flyin' just like old times:clapping:

The only thing that came rollin' out though was a bunch of dirt:bouncy:...but the thrill it provided us was something I will always cherish.

We didn't hunt long because of his long day...but it accomplished exactly what I wanted it too.

He found some goodies with his new XLT...I found some goodies with my SE...and we both found 2 hours of peace and solace.

Now it's healing time for Dad...so no more hunting for him for at least 4 weeks...but at least he got a dose of the happiness that awaits him as soon as he is strong enough.

Again...he thanks you all for your continued thoughts and support...and so do I:angel:

Glad to hear it went will. I hope my son will share the interest and hunt with me one day. I sounds like a great experience.

Bryce, you are the man!!! I wish my dad was still here so I could maybe get him interested in hunt'in. He was a farmer all his life and never ever had a hobby of any kind. I think he took me fish'in 1 time that I can remember. He was just busy all the time and never really made time for me. It was no big deal to me cause I understood that he was putt'in food on the table (we had 250 head of cattle and 30 heffers in the lot across the road from where we hunted so we always had steak for an afternoon snack instead of Ding Dongs) My dad was a GOOD man and I loved him very much! We just never done anything together. Oh well.......anyhow's, I see your dad is using his new machine in the pics. Does he like it? Bet so huh? I'm glad he got to go before they done his surgery. He'll be OK bud.........just hang tight! Like I've said before..........Think POSITIVE!!! Went out for a bit tinite and didn't get much at all, dug a few good sound'in hits but they were junk. Oh well..........got me the hell outta the house! Gutta go for now dude,

See ya and HH to ya,

Gilly

Now that is a day to remember for a lifetime! Thanks for sharing a special moment in your life. I am wishing a speedy recovery for your dad so he can kick your b**t with that new XLT!

You and your dad will be fine Bryce. I don't know you but reading your posts about detecting, your mothers illness and now your dads surgery says a lot about how you were raised. They both did a fine job instilling love and compassion into you. You know what's important in life and are not afraid to talk about it. Tell your father good luck and all us on the Minelab Forum are thinking about him. PJ

Bryce, That was awesome to see your Dad with that XLT in his hands.I'm sure he was ready to hunt with a lighter detector:laugh: I hope you guys find a lid with a jar attached to it with silver or gold in it !!!!!! Good luck and looking forward to your next post

Bryce.
It just don't get any better than this. A day with your Dad is worth it all. It won't be long until you two will be hunting again. 4 weeks will pass fast. Hey I have a lot of older treasure magazines if you get up this way I will let you have them and that might help pass time.
He really looks like he is enjoying the new machine.
Take care and keep in touch and tell your Dad get well soon. I'm looking forward to meeting him.
Roy

Bryce,

I'm really glad your Dad made it through his surgery! Thanks for the update.

I can tell the XLT looks a lot more like a natural extension of your Dad's arm; he looks a lot more comfortable with it than the Expl.

The mind has the power to be the best healer.

Wishing your Dad all the best for a smooth recovery!!

Take care, my friend!

Super Bryce, now we will all be praying for a speedy recovery for your dad, so you can repeat on the above hunt.

Steve

And the best part is when he's healed up and feeling much better, you 2 can get back to that site and continue looking for the Mason Jar Lids. If there's one there....there maybe others and possibly the one your looking for. Best of luck to your dad and to you and hope it's less stressful for you in the coming weeks. Good Luck and HH.

Now if I can only keep Dad from going stir crazy for the next 5 weeks:detecting:

I appreciate all your support...kind words...and prayers:angel:...and so does Dad:angel:

Awesome to see your dad out having fun, it wont be long before hes going full blast with that XLT :clapping:

Bryce,
