Hunted with James ND today

kickback

New member
James and I got together and hunted in my area today.I learned alot of the Explorer Dark Arts techniques today. My ability to find older, deeper coins by the end of our hunt had much improved.I found 5 wheaties and a heavy silver ring.He had 4 silver coins and 11 wheaties when we parted company. He is about impossible to out hunt,he doesn't take breaks, doesn't eat or drink, just detects. He is surgical with his Explorer finding silver in nasty trash. The places we hunted have been detected hard. The coins don't sink real deep here.I really enjoyed the hunt.I'm sure we will hunt together again.I do not want to hunt behind him, ever!!!!!!!

Thats cool! Any pointers you can pass along? I'd love to have a chance to learn from a pro,:twodetecting: congrats!

Yeah, what's the scoop? We can all use a little education on the finer points of an Explorer

Please do share. I've heard he's the best since Moutray! :please:

I don't know if he's the best since Moultray, Maveric, but I do believe that he knows
his Explorer as well as anyone on this site. His consistent finds and the research
he does to get those finds shows that he does know his Explorer. Mike has also
shared some of his techniques over the years to those that were/are interested and
also showed some AWESOME amounts of silver coins that he found on weekend
hunts. So the amounts of silver that CAN be found for someone willing to put in the time,
research and effort can be awesome.
.
Congrats Kickback on your finds and glad you got the opportunity to hunt
with James. He has a lot of information that he can and will share to most anyone
that will ask for his opinion. Continues success on you future hunts. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Who's Moutray?? I'm just looking for tips because he uses the same machine I do and offered to help when I joined the forum.

A lot of what I learned was what the detector was telling me ie deep coin.I was really on the FE numbers in digital if the got above a certain point I wouldn't dig the target.I found out to rely on the tone.I had a signal that bounced 11-26 to 15-26 it was a real nice tone.I wouldn't normally dig it.I did and it was a Wheatie, deep. One spot we hunted the coins were deeper than the other spots, the signals ID numbers would change but the tones were good,Dig,dig, dig. His settings seem to work great for my area.If I had a question about a signal James would check and tell me what he thought or would make a suggestion.I'm sure he would have found a lot more coins, silver coins, but he spent a lot of time showing me signals, telling me about site reading all manner of tips, tricks and techniques. He has a great sense of humor. He makes the Energizer Bunny look lazy.He wore the old Fat Man out!! All you have to do is look at his Lesche and you can see why he digs so many silver coins.I'm going to go have an Ibuprofen sandwich and go to bed.Good Night.

Sounds like you guys had a great hunt.Very nice of james sharing his experence with you.He has some great finds that didnt happen without alot of research and Hard work.Glad you guys Got in a hunt. HH

Given to James ND. I have not had the pleasure of hunting with James yet. But I will be in his area Next Spring as I will be visiting family and friends in North Dakota. I will Definately look James up for some Hunting.:super:
I have had the Pleasure of Hunting with the "IMO"Missouri Pro's Mr. Big Mike (Moutray) and Jim (Golddigger) Walsh. two of the best with the XS I have ever seen.:twodetecting: Also had the oppertunity of hunting with the Man behind the Scenes Gary (Guvnor) Klingline the Big Dog of this forum.
These "Dog's" can hunt. They have also all made some "incredible" finds and large numbers of silver coinage has fallen victim to there abilitys. I have not had the oppertunity to hunt with Bryce or the (Yeti) although I have run into them at diffrent times in the field hunting. Everybody can learn something from each other, be it only the fact that metal detecting is only a (Hobby) or some little trick that will make it all come together so that we can all enjoy what we have chosen to be our favorite pastime.:buds:

So Guv how bout putting together another Forum hunt? Sounds like some fun to me...

During my travels ive hunted with some very capable hunters. Its always great to compare targets with the xperts and discuss settings.

Even though you didn't pop out a Silver Coin, it was great to see you get that Silver Ring and it was a nice one at that. We didn't strike it rich but it was well worth coming out and hunting with you. I find a lot of enjoyment just helping others and it doesn't matter if I'm finding anything or not, just teaching user's like yourself is reward enough for me. I'm glad you learned a few new things so you can better understand your Se and hopefully start finding more Old Coins for your collection. Just give it time and you will be a pro at the Explorer Dark Arts as well. Thanks for inviting me and will get together with you again for sure. Until then my friend.......Good Luck and HH to you.

search for his username and start looking at his finds. Now that's great detecting!:detecting:

than a new one Bill and it only took me about a year and a half to get it that way. And no! I do not sharpen them when they get dull. Might have to do up a pic side by side with my Old Lesche and the New Lesche. Thanks again Bill for the entertainment. You have a great sense of humor as well and we did have a blast that is for sure. Until we meet again my friend......Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.

next year and I will see what we can scrounge up together. What area will you be in so I can get going and make sure I have some research done to better our odds? Just PM me the answer and Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.
