has ony one here ever found any cache's,in or around cellar holes?,i've searched plenty a cellar hole,or at least the outer grounds area,i've rarely gone down inside to search, maybe 4 times in 11 years.seems like a cache was most unlikely,so i would just search the outer grounds for single coins.but now after reading about cache hunting on some other internet sites,i'm thinking i should have been searching inside the holes and walls right along(i didn't have cache on the noggin but now i do)
i did once find a canning jar bank, but it was on the out side of the cellar hole about 15-20'feet away and it was standing straight up about 10"inches down to the top of the zinc lid and (withdrawel already been made) "empty"! so long story even longer, has any one had any luck finding caches in or around cellar holes?
HH.
......but seriously folks....I found a burnt cellar hole and did find a cache of sort......I eye spyed a small picky bush circle in the middle of the field and searched it knowing it is a good indication for a dump......I walked in carefully and noticed I was standing on something....pulled the tangled grass apart and viola.....a pile of old NH vehicle plates dating from 1914-1919...all were porclin plates......7 total......now that is a cache ain't it?
MXT. So thinking it might be a silver coin I got excited and started digging about a nine inches down I seen there was glass as I kept digging I found three glass jars all standing upright on some kind of cooking pan. But my story doesn't have the happy ending you read about in the books there wasn't one red cent in that hole. It seemed to be they had already took there cache and only left the jars and pan.
But it was fun and I'll keep looking maybe next time..
