Hunting fresh water gold chains

I have been doing a lot of fresh water hunting this year. Found a gold medallion that was on a chain. I know the chain is still there but to no avail. I came home and did a test of a gold chain that I have, laid it on top of the ground and got no signal from it at all. I tried both beach and all other settings and nothing except on prospect it was all over the meter. I hunt mainly in beach 1 & 2.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank in advance!

It won’t detect every chain but, still gets a bulk of them. My hunting partner found a nice 24” 10k last week. It ID at 1. here it is.

Hit the chain with no discrimination and see what happens I.E. all metal. Your going to have to max out your sensitivity. Beach modes are for salt water/ beaches, I fresh water hunt in field mode with sens. maxed.

I use Gold 1 exclusively for freshwater hunting, especially if your target is small gold; water hunting for me is dig-it-all above iron. You get more feedback than other modes but the audio tone seems to be perfect for my aging ears on the deeper/faint targets and I do get better depth in my highly mineralized sand/rock.
