hunting in rocky environment

Can anyone tell me what hunting among rocks (small pebbles to larger ) does to the sensitivity of the 3030? Does this reduce the depth? Do the rocks somehow deflect the signals? Do they cause more noise? Seems more unstable. I would guess soil/dirt would conduct deeper than hunting over rocks.

I hunt over rock and pebble rather routinely - think river rocks. The only loss of depth I have experienced was a result of me swinging my coil a bit higher over the medium - essentially trying to protect the coil from excessive dings. Routinely dig quarter sized targets at 6-8 inches.....add the 2 inches I am above the ground and that's about 8-10 inches on a quarter. I can't get much better than that in a park.

That pretty much says it all for me too. I think you'll find most detectors react similarly to lifting the coil a tad.
