Hunting trashy area - Etrac in long.

Yes I have noticed ringing in my ears too and after a while the high screech was giving me a bit of a headache so I turned Threshold Pitch back to factory 15. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Banditicey I will do that. I have his site on my desktop great info there.

Thanks for the info. I went out yesterday to a site I have dug several time. The last few times I dug this site it did not produce. I tied your suggestion using the long audio. It worked great and produced two Merks. 1921 and a 1941 . Thanks and good hunting.

Well done. I too am going over areas supposedly hunted out and pulling heaps of silvers. I have found that many i the last 7 - 8 months that people call me a bullshitter, hey but let them because while they are thinking like that I know that they are not out looking for silvers. More for me.

Just got my Sunray X-5 and will give the long tones a try in a tough spot soon. Hunting in this "hunted out" and very trashy park with smooth tones and stock coil has yielded some middling old stuff but no silver yet. We'll see. I think there's stuff there yet and I like the challenge. This park goes back to the mid 1800's.

I ran with the E-Trac in long and normal today. I preferred normal for the most part, but on the deeper targets near trash, running long did indeed help them to stand out. I often switched between the two as sometimes long was really long, too long.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely keep playing with it and it has a definite place.

that is when you have to find the perfect setting for the gain and sens. If the gain is too high and the sens this will happen. Its all a game of balance. I have my gain from 25 to 28 and my sens at a minimum of 26. I also hunt in smooth and not long because long blanks towards the end which can mask.

Ahhh, thanks for the tip and that makes sense. I'll keep an eye on that from now on.
I did briefly try smooth and it seemed... well, kind of smooth. Would you say it is between normal and long as it seemed longer than normal but not as long as long. (Sorry, couldn't resist. eheh)
I would like to settle on one setting...

you have to find the one that suites you the best. The reason why I take smooth is because it does not bland AND it holds on to the target longer.
