I agree it is a great machine but it is not the second coming. There are places that you just cannot use the F75 and I was at one today. No matter what I did it would not get even close to being stable. Granted there were a lot of electrical things in the area but I have hunted this place before with the EX2 with no problems, So, out came the EX2 and the hunt was on.
Finally left that area and went to another and there it ran great. It was a school that had been and is hammered daily but they are notching out tabs so I had a field day digging the 29-31's nickels, and quarters that were next to trash.
IMHO there is no ONE detector that will do it all and it is foolish to think that there is. I think that with the F75 and the EX2 I can cover just about all the bases as each detector has it's strong points and weaknesses. Knowing when to us the correct one is the secret for success
Hello erikk!
Thank you for you reply.
I agree absolutely, that there is no one machine for everything.
although the Ex, in theory is supposedly just that.
But, like human beings, it has limitations.
I also accept the F75 is sensitive to certain forms of interference, for its filters are minimal to achieve the speed etc.
That is why I was amazed that you used sensitivity settings like 80, and had your ground balance at 90.
Even if you can't ground balance on some particular site for whatever reason, I would recommend that you manually set it to 60.
Can you tell me exactly what counter measures you took on the last site that was so bad regarding interference?
You say that there are lots of sources of interference. Can you give us some clue as to what they are?
Got to give you credit, you are a trier!
I would just like to see if it is possible to use the F75 in these places that so far have proven difficult....even if you have to run it at sensitivity ONE !!!!!!!!!!!.........Matt.
p.s,
Hi John....hope you are well and still pulling the goodies....Matt[/quote]
The area i was hunting was 2 football fields one on each side of a maintenance department where there were several big air conditioners running and transformers & other big electric stuff that was fenced in and I haven't a clue what they were,
The reason I wanted to hunt this place with the F75 is that I took about $50-60.00 in quarters out of the 1st field as well as a silver WL half. I know that there are more coins being masked and are at the 10+ inch level as that is where the coins are being dug. Another problem is that they have just put more dirt over the top to top dress and re plant the grass to get ready for the new season.
I have 0 mineralization down here in most places so I just set the GB anywhere I can to get it to be the most quiet. Sometimes I am a 1 and other times at the other end. Whatever works. I usually run Disc @ 65 in places like this first and just go for the high end coins. There are too many tabs and scrap, not to mention underground sprinkler system to bother with the rest. I also have to be careful of the holes as the crew watch me like a hawk and if I dig too many I am out of there.
Now I know that if I can get the f75 to work I will get the masked coins but so far no luck. All I have been able to do is go with the EX2 and a 5" coil, It works pretty well but it is slow and there is a lot of ground to cover.I started with the WOT,dropped down to the 12 SunRay, the 10.5, 8 and now the 5. Each time I downsize I pull more coins.
That is why I wanted to go with the f75 with the rapid recovery and separation but it is not going to work because of all the electric interference. There are even underground cables surrounding the fields to supply the big overhead lighting systems.
Therefore although the f75 is a great machine there are some places where it just will not work and others will and is the reason that I am not a 1 detector person.I learned this lesson very early when I started with a D-Tex BFO (don't suppose you remember them) and then got a Whites TR66. With those 2 machines I could cover just about anyplace I went and was it ever fun to hunt BT (before tabs)
BTW I even tried Disc @ 6, Sens @10 and GB all over the chart
