I can only figure one thing here-either Minelab wants us all to buy E-TRACs first before further explaining the ferrous audio and 12 ferrous ID thing

out ourselves as part of the "learning curve" ? I always think it's hard to fully understand any electronic device unless you were the engineer who designed it. You just don't always understand what they were thinking and how they configured the device to operate... and attempted to achieve the desired performance if possible.

Thus far I am very impressed with how well it does in ferrous audio with the lack of any falsing in heavy iron. Also, the speed of the display and machine overall is super too. The way the ferrous and conductive axis does make it simpler for ID since it is now linear too but still would like further explaination on the ferrous ID side of things....would give all of us even more confidence in the machine knowing why...I'm sure the lightbulb will go on soon about it and I'll probably just say "DUH" to myself :)

was a field tester on this machine and has a book coming out about it. He posts here so hopefully this will get his attention and a response on the subject.

thanks for all the indulging and giving me your results.. I havent got one yet, and I do have on on order.. I am off all week, but probably wont get here in tome for me to actually get out with... I have plenty of spots loaded with iron and no targets left to see how it does, so the ferrous mode audio wont bother me in those spots. I just hope it an find something at those places.. otherwise its all for nothing :) cause I am really interested in what it can find the explorer cant... if it doesnt then I guess I can sell it off a little loss... I know stuff is hiding in the iron cause I can dig test holes and find stuff... this is not a matter of a coin between two nails but a target completely surrounded by rusty nails and rust from what was once nails. I suppose if I dont like the ferrous mode and cant make teh switch to conductive, I can always use my SE at the other spots loaded up with iron and tabs and crap

I have a place like that. I have hunted it to death. First with a SovereignGT, then a Tejon w/5.5 coil, then a T2, then an F75, then an Explorer SE... I find very little anymore but I have been finding some more by using the F75 in AM mode and digging everything that make's the numbers jump above 20. But, I have to keep my eyes on the screen to do it, (I keep it in one tone to hunt that way).

I am going to sell my SE with the pro coil and buy an E-Trac. I am going to keep the Slimline since the E-Trac look's like it comes with the Pro coil... I'm thinking from what I am reading that the E-Trac may be as good as or better that the F75 in heavy iron. I imagine Andy may know a little more about this and Andy, if you are reading here what do you think? Will the E-Trac surpass the F75 in heavy iron and trash?

Readings are so much tighter, no bouncing, the ranges are expanded , 50X30=1500 programmable target footprints with gold bouncing at below1k and expected to hit 2k with the downward spiral of the dollar.......conductive finally means what it should the purity of an alloy or metal versus the magnetic influence of Iron.......Now this is just the way I see it ....I'd be happy if I had the only E-Trac but I will assure you this thing is worth bending to your will.... old ruts are just graves with out an end....... Hopefully ya'll keep huntin with your SE pros ! My question is can you take two rusty cut nails and sandwich them between a dime making a cross and make your explorer hit the dime?
