I doubt it but did you hear of anyone crazy enough.......

to hunt the beaches at obx or virginia beach after the bomb cyclone came thru this past weekend ?? I wonder if it stripped or deposited sand on the areas ??

Mark ( ohio )
I don't know of anyone personally planning to hunt OBX or VA Beach, but one time, about a dozen years ago, I hunted a beach as a hurricane was passing by offshore. That was an incredible experience but in retrospect, I guess some would say I was a bit crazy back then, lol.

I'd love to hunt some of the southern bottom of them Outer Banks ,,, it'd sure be nice to dig up an old chest of Blackbeards loot .
I can help carry it

I just love how people find something life changing and run to the media.

And then some gov agency finds a way to confiscate it All.
Man Odan, I've thought many times what I would do if I ever hit the lottery. Of course, my first thought is to keep quiet, so I don't start getting phone calls and knocks on my door from distant "relatives". But at the same time, that would be such a huge life changing event, that I'd be dying inside not being able to tell anyone. I'd have to tell my kids and family, because I'd want to share my newfound wealth with them. But then, they would probably feel "comfortable" telling their best friends, who in turn would tell their best friends, and before ya know, the entire community is looking at me as a possible fix to all their financial woes. Of course, that would be a great problem to have, but I'm sure it would be pretty agonizing at the same time. Best thing to do IMO, would be to buy another property down at the beaches in a neighboring state, so I could detect every day, but since the place would be in another state, that would allow me to "lay low", and any new friends we meet down at the new place would be on our "do not tell" list, lol.

If I ever hit the Big money.
I'd set up lifetime accounts for my loved ones.
Leave instructions with a good lawyer and disappear from the world until I figured it all out.

A lady used to let me stay in her cabin when I was working at the beach ,, she lives in a gated community,, 200 miles inland ,, well her neighbors ,, just a man and wife ,, the husband would buy 1 or 2 + of a few $ 100.00 scratch off tickets . Well , the guy hit a 10 million dollar winner one day .
The lady said he didn't tell anybody about it. But they finally told the lady about it ,, and she kept quiet for a while.
But she said the guy that won it ,, didn't even tell his family ,, then 1 day,, the guy's brother called him ,, and started arguing with the guy because he didn't tell him he won on a lottery ticket .
I didn't see that as a smart move on the brothers part ,,, if the guy was planning to give family a little chunk ,, then he just screwed himself out of it.
Anyway ,, the lady said the guy went to a lawyer ,,, got everything set up prior to claiming the money ,, and the lady said he was going to collect around $ 365,000 a yr ,, after taxes ,, for I don't remember how long.
I believe I could get by on that for a few yrs .
About 2 yrs ago I was at a little restaurant on OKI ,, having breakfast one morning before going to work .
Anyway ,, their was a couple seated behind me ,, talking with some of the other locals. Right before they were leaving,, I heard them talking to a family that was down at the beach for vacation. The visitors were nice ,, just asking questions about living on the island ,, as they were thinking about buying a place on the island . The costs , etc.
Then ,, at one point ,, the local couple told them that , they were both retired military,, and after retiring ,, at some point they had won the lottery ,, not a big one ,, but said it was big enough they bought their beach house ,, new cars ,,etc ,,, and put some money back. And they pretty much live off their retirements ,, and do small jobs for the hell'uv'it , and do about anything they want.

I bought 2- 20 dollar tickets about 2 weeks ago. 1st time I've done that in a while. Broke even on one ,, and won 10 bucks on the next. I don't usually spend that much on lottery tickets ,, but I feel lucky as hell that I at least got my money back .
