The problem was were the wire enters the probe. I slide the strain relief back and sliced the wire casing where the strain relief crimps it. There are two plastic coated wires and each one has a second wire mesh wrapped around it for a total of four wires. I noticed that one of the mesh wires was frayed apart. I added new wire and wrapped it very tight with tape. I then slide the
strain relief back into place and It looks and works like new.
 
faulty also. Glad you were able to fix it yourself. Good Luck and HH to you when you get out again and use it. :detecting:
