All kidding aside, I sure wish Minelab would make the E-Trac a little lighter, because I'v seen what they can do when it comes to finding silver coins.
It's just a tad too heavy for me to swing for any length of time.

They want the machine to appear lighter than it really is. Ask most detectorists and they say they would prefer not to swing a machine weighing more than 3.5 lbs. Minelabs develops some great technology, but in my opinion, the packaging of that technology needs a lot of work.

My experience is that I don't get that tired swinging my e-trac but my hand gets blisters from all the deep digging. Plus I can use it for a jack stand when I rotate the tires on my truck. Being a senior citizens who has had 5 heart attacks I don't work anymore and can't afford to pay someone to rotate them for me. I put a DD coil on my friends MXT for him to use instead of the 9.5 concentric he had and you would have thought he needed a wheel barrow to get it to the site. The coil/cover on the e-trac is a load but at least it came with one. My F75 cost a grand and the coil cover was extra ---what's with that?
I think the issue with the Minelab specs is that , like their machines , they try to give you as much information as possible to make a discriminating choice.

Hey Tabby, maybe you are supposed to have a fanny pack to carry the batterys in? Does Minelab have a cool fanny pack for sale that the batterys go in? This post should get some action now! Like you I have seen what those Minelabs can do in the hands of a capable detectorist, I hunt with a few pals that swing them, and dont want to poke too much fun at them, though I do ask if they would like me to pick up a bunch of helium balloons at the grocery store so they can tie them to the coil to make the thing lighter! ...I hunt against them all the time, and my only option is to outrun those guys with my lighter and faster rig, so they buss me about depth, and I buss them about speed, in the end, I am impressed with their results...and they of mine as well, it has made me a better hunter through the affiliation, I cant say they have gotten any better since they are pretty damn good to begin with, ..I cant out dig them, but I CAN outrun them!..

My two gals start complaining about swinging the e-trac after about three hours and I don't understand it. I'm only a bit larger than them but 35 years older. Last time I went to the cardiologist I was up to 155 pounds even with the 5 stents and I can swing that thing for 4 hours without a problem--of course I do a lot more digging than swinging--the knees are my biggest worries. I will admit that when I'm working old cabins above 8000' I usually switch over to my 6x8 SEF. My youngest gal was fighting me for the F75 one afternoon a while back because she said her shoulders were looking to "cannon ballish" for her modeling jobs at the Tractor Supply Store.
I will say that Minelab could reduce the weight for the less physically fit by increasing it's battery effeciency. It uses twice the batteries and runs half as long as my F75. I sent them a patent idea for installing an accessory receptacle on the side of the control box to charge my cell phone while I was detecting but I haven't heard back from them yet. That would make it about the perfect detector , huh

I've HAD/HAVE one (Etrac) in action for several years now.---Before that, the other Explorers--now the CTX 3030 also.----They are ALL "silver killers", silver coin magnets indeed!-----Although I love my CTX, my Etrac isn't going anywhere.----The ONLY thing I don't like about the Etrac is the balance of the machine.-----That piddlin battery weight under the cuff doesn't make any difference (easier or harder) in swinging the Etrac though (IMO of course).-----If you think the supplied battery weight makes a difference in that regard, purchase a RNB battery, they are lighter than the stock ones.
