I Got the Point

Nancy-IL

Well-known member
Larry and I went detecting today and right off the bat, I found this pointy thing. :surprised: After searching for a while, nothing old was being recovered. I guess we both got the "point" of nothing else in the yard. Boy, what a bummer and it was an old yard too. :sadwalk: You just never know what you might come up with. Or in this case, come home with. Is there any way of telling if the arrowhead is an oldie or a modern version type? HH, Nancy

It looks authentic from the picture. I would call it an arrowpoint so probably not much older than 1,500 years. I'll see if I can identify the type and give you a closer age. Daryl

Oh my word........... I'm getting more excited about my "find". YAHOO!!!! Thanks Daryl and HH, Nancy

It looks old & authentic to me Nancy.---I love finding them things!---We used to hunt for them when I was a kid in NE after windstorms out in the sand hills (we knew pretty much where the camps were).----We'd find mostly flint but every once in awhile we would find an arrow head.-----That's a GREAT FIND!-----------Del

Very nice spear point, good find.

Nice finds Nancy ! Looked in my book...closest match seems to be called 'Kings' middle archaic to woodland period 4500-2500 years before present. great find for sure!

Thanks for the info and I'll bring it to the meeting so everyone can see it. Maybe between you and Daryl, it can be identified. I am very excited about it. HH, Nancy

Those are ALWAYS nice to find!
