I just bought a S&W 9mm for my wife and am looking for a 1911 .45 for myself. I know Vernon and Ray have Kimbers but I'm not looking to put that much

the ones that come from the factory 'worked', like the Kimbers or the Gold Cups.
You are gonna experience 'issues' with even the good ones right out o' the box.
Unless you luck into the right combination of mag, ammo, springs etc.,
they will require some tuning.
Some shooters go into thier choice and purchase simply unaware that most .45's,
most autos for that matter, will require some tuning. They jist aren't wheel guns.
Some of your 'base' out o' the box .45's, like the Series 70, Auto Ordnance,Mil spec 1911's,
are great platforms for inexpensive upgrades to make them 'reliable'.
The Para Ordnance is NOT one of them .
Heck, i recently purchased a Springfiled GI-45, ( an American icon)
and i found it to be JUNK right out o' the box.
I didn't know at the time of purchase that the frame was made in Brazil.
I could git rid of it fast enough.
I traded it towards a used SIG P-220 :inlove:
Mmmm...now i have to go git it out and touch it.

My wording above was a mistake.

:poke:
'specialy with an auto.
A jammed firearm in a fire fight is a death sentence.
There are some truely bad ones on the market.
I have a decent collection of 'reliable' .45's.
My main carry is a Ruger SP-101, 5 shot .357
It aint gonna jam.

to my room now. :lmfao:
note to self: wake up, engage brain before typin'

said somethin like .....drop yer .45 , throw 3 bullets at 'em and RUN !!! :lmfao:

Some Kimbers can be had NEW for 700+- just depends options on them and thats not far from other 45's if you want Kimber.

Thanks for the web site Tip.

I carry an FNP-40 made by FNH. They are in Fredricksburg, VA (which is also a plus for me). I saw a little hammerless glock .380 the other day that is a great little fallback, it is so small you easily could tuck it in your back or most anywhere. Being hammerless, no safety, it has a harder trigger pull on the first shot but after that it is easy. I also have an 8mm that shoots like a dream, it is very accurate. Then there are the shotguns... and the Katanas.

My next gun will either be a Remingtom 700 or a Pederson Howdah (legal pistolgrip double barrel 20 guage) .50cal, or .58 cal. Cabela's sells them.

My wife keeps a derringer in her drawer at work, classic American over/under derringer in .357 magnum... I loaded it with .38s were afraid to shoot a .357 mag through it, not sure if I could hold onto it, laff. It didn't have grips so I wrapped a lot of black electrical tape around for grips... it really looks good like that to me. It sort of fits... makes it look more dangerous.

I need to shoot more...

You Need to really look into the Remington 700 s. For years I taught this rifle was be best bolt action rifle EVER MADE. But it is come to light that Remington has been hiding a Real Dangerous design problem that they have known about since the late 1940's. If the rifle is not maintained or cleaned right It can fire with the safety on. The designer learned of this problem in about 1948 or so. He told Remington about it. At the time it would cost less then 10 cent a rifle to fix then now today's it is $20.00. This why there are TWO different makes of it.\

I have owned 8 Remington 700 in 4 cal. and sold the last 2 months ago. My next toy is going to a Russian Mosin Nagant 7.62 X 54R with the factory scope if I can find the right one.
