I know this has been ask before how good is the safari on the beach

Just sold my M6 thinking of getting a safari or an explorer Se pro my friends think i went to the dark side ( they all have whites, V3, MXT, DFX) i will be doing a little hunting on the beach 2-3 x a month the rest in parks and fields have any suggestions on what one to get. Had a x-terra 70 awhile back ago like it so any info would be nice

the fbs technology used with explorers/safari/excalebers detectors is the best.... I've used a slew of different manufactures units at the ocean ( OBX, NC )... and nothing compares to the performance of minelab.................. be prepared to dig deeeeeep!!

Bob, you didn't mention WHY you sold your White's M6 or what it was you didn't like or wanted that was different. personally, I think White's M6 is a good detector and well suited to many people's needs. For that matter, I think the MXT is also, and probably the one to beat of all the White's models mentioned.

Remember, regardless of how much we would like things to be 'perfect,' they aren't and that means that there is no single, perfect, do-it-all detector. There are, however, many capable versatile models and it really depends on what you want to do.

I've owned all of the Explorer models with the exception of the E-Trac, but have used it a little and don't care for the E-Trac's abrupt grip angle. I like the Safari more than the other FBS models for a couple of easy-to-explain reasons. It's simple to adjust, it's simple to get into action. I don't care to spend a lot of time tinkering with any detector, and the Safari does what it's intended to do and hold a certain element of 'FUN' in its simplicity.

The FBS models generally seem to do rather well with little fuss.

You HAD an X-Terra 70, and just parted with an M6, so why did you not keep either of those? Just be warned, the FBS models, such as the Safari, are not even close in performance characteristics to the X-Terra series. Just because you liked the X-Terra's doesn't mean you 'll warm up to the Safari or other Explorer variant.

I like the Safari for the strengths it has for certain hunting applications, and while I also like the MXT (and cousin M6), I have switched to using the Teknetics Omega 8000 for most of my hunting with certain tasks handled by the Safari. The main reason is the very light weight design as well as the balance and 'feel' of the Omega. The performance is excellent for the tasks I have need of it, making it a very good compliment to the Safari performance for other applications. As a matter of fact, I know a couple of others who like the Safari/Omega combo for the versatility they provide for a wide-array of detecting applications. I think you ought to give the Safari some consideration.

Hi Bob! ..... I also owned the M6 and thought it was a fantastic detector! In fact, I sold to get the Safari
because I was really curious about the simplicity of the machine.

One thing that I learned about the Safari! Minelab proves that a high ended detector like the Safari
does not need to be complicated like another Top Selling brand. Safari goes deep for sure!
I also had a SE pro awhile ago and did not care for it. I would take the Safari any day!

On a personal note ..... for a multi band detector, I think the Safari is the best machine out there
for the money and the easiest to use.

Yes... I sold mine but .......the memories of a great machine live on!

Oh! ....get a small coil and you will be amazed!

Safari on the beach and in the shallow water has bagged me close to 20 rings in the past 3 months...and this ain't no daytona beach here in the north country.

Mark I hope you left me something on the beach I am going to OBX first part of August just bought 130 dollar sand scoop will be first time beach hunting compared to ILL swimming holes.Is it free or do I have to buy a permit to hunt?
