sef or nel ?? any advice is apreciated!!!!

how does either one perform in the water/surf? sensitivity, weight, ease of use in the surf???

im thinking of getting anywhere from a 10x12 up to a 12x15,.....the 13 inch nel looks like a good size!

thanks,
chuck.

Interesting, I did not know that NEL OR SEF coils work on Excals. Thought the only one you could get was a Coiltec 15" WOT. But then you also need to change out some connectors.

Total cost was around $400 last time I looked.

One of the best dag things to happen to the Excalibur, should cost about 80.oo dollars for the endcap then each connector will run about 20.oo, testing right now and have 100+ hours underwater with no issues at all...being able to change out the coils on the Excalibur makes it more versatile then CTX for the water, combined with the remote PP......a killer setup.

When you get up to production, save me a place in line! Nice! :detecting:

joe, how do you like the weight and performance of the 13 ultimate????? cant wait to be able to switch coils, hope i will get a pm when you are ready!!!!!!!!!

therover, yes......the nel hunter for the sov would work with the excal. .......how do you like it???

Only issue I had with it was the standard lower rod on the GT did not fit on the coil, so I had to use a different lower rod. The coil is very sensitive, so you can't throttle up to full sensitivity. Runs smooth in both the wet sand as well as under water. Built extremely well and the coil cable is thick....top notch workmanship on all the NEL coils.

Do you have an Excal you can switch out coils ? If so, I can ship it out to you to try out. I won't use it much for awhile.

I may even sell it ( only used it a few times), and not because of performance. I am now inclined to running smaller coils ( even on the beach), due to some shoulder issues as well as not being able to control the bigger coils like I used to. I know I am sacrificing depth and coverage, but I gain in hunting time as I don't tire out as fast.

native 10 "coil hard to win ...
1) COILTEC 12x8, 5 "in water
2) WOT COILTEC 15 "wet sand tide.
3) S-12
