About 10 years ago I used to swing a white xp.
I'm very much entertaining the idea of getting back into the hobby. I want a nice detector, but I don't want to pay for a whole bunch of "Bealls and whistles" that I will never use.
My main hunting areas are going to be beaches (Jacksonville beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach) and "tot lots".
I'm not too familiar with the characteristics of the sand at those beaches. At the beach, I want something I can walk in somebody's (who has already swung there detector) tracks and pick up things they missed.
I don't know if I would call myself a "beginner". Definitely not an "expert".
I've looked at the manticore, but that thing has a pretty price tag on it and I don't want to pay that extra money for features that I will never ever use. But, if the manticor is what I need...
It's just hard to make a choice. So many good detectors out there.

It's just that if all I need is a minelab vanquish 440, I wouldn't want to buy a manticore.
Any advice and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
