I only dug two coins today...but they totaled 12 CENTS. YIPPEE:thumbup:

passed since I found my last 2 center. Well....3 days in a row of 60 degree temps are on the way...and I will be stuck working:sadwalk:...that just ain't right:surrender:
I hope you get some more goodies in these warm temps.

Nice 2 cent Bryce, that is a day maker....I am just curious Bryce on that Barber dime on edge...you said you turned down gain and couldn't here it at 7....were you running auto sens. or manual? and set at what?....I can see maybe if you were on auto and it not audible at 7, but have a hard time thinking it would not be hear able at 7 in manual sens. set high, at least 24-26....just a thought....I am always looking for that one better tweak to get the max depth in any place I am at....I notice, even at the same places, I sometimes get diff. results....so now I am starting to believe time of day, moon, stars, whatever it is causing diff. effects, I try to hunt like it is the first day at the site, and when I get the quiet iffys I try to tweak it for best results. Sorry to be a pain....but I am always trying to dig a little deeper and get as much info as possible. Hopefully it will make others think and try new approaches and find more oldies.

some different variables can come into play...from varying EMI at peak times during the day....ground moisture....."alignment of the stars"....proper or improper ground canceling...and so on.
I piddled over the dime for about 10 minutes before digging it...even switching from semi 26 to manual 26...but at 7...the deep chirp I heard with the gain at 10...was not there in manual sens either.
Manual 26 did seem to make a little difference over the sound I heard with gain at 8. I probably would have stopped to investigate it...whereas gain 8 and semi 26 I doubt I would have. The problem with that is....I get too much falsing and chirping running manual sensitivity...so the semi auto 26 and gain jacked...make it work for me.

I even tried switching deep on with gain at 7...and sens at manual 26....but the SE still wouldn't peep over the barber. I think it was just at the brink of detection depth because it was on edge.

Another weird point is that I may not even be noise canceling my machine right.,..but it is what Sandy suggested to me a couple of years ago...and has worked for me. If I don't get a very clean spot to ground cancel in...my SE is not stable...and doesn't seem to get the same depth.
The point Sandy made to me was for me to hold my coil about 12" parallel off the ground...then noice cancel...making sure the ground was clean.
That's the way I've done it since. I don't know if that's right or not...but I do notice a difference if I get impatient and don't noise cancel over clean ground.

Anyway...your response is a good one...and piddling...tweaking...experimenting..etc...is what will find us fellers' some deeper coins.
Take care Doug.

WooHoo Bryce , Best 12 cents I have ever seen .... Love the 2 center , Congrats

go by before I dig another cause' this old feller' might be walking with a cane by then:detecting:
Talk to you soon

Great finds Bryce. Ive hunted some of those old cabin cellers around Lake Monroe. Like you said you dont find many coins... but if you do its a keeper. Ive always hunted with gain at 9. Im going slow enough that i dont minde looking at the screen because on occassion i see the screen scoot to the upper right which leads to investigation since some deep ones to me sound like a chirp from iron. Im hopeing to get out one more time this sunday then likely will head for home. HH all.

Dew

Bryce I had a blast and thanks for being so patient with me and helping me out. The 2 cent piece cleaned up nicely. Someday for me maybe but I doubt it.

Thanks Kennon. You are doing very well bro. If we can find a way to knock that grass down a little...I know there's some good stuff around the 10" range.
My work schedule is horrible for the next 6 days...so you and Darrell go dig some deepies.

Thanks Dew. I just have to have my gain jacked to hear those deep signals like I want...and like you...I don't mind glancing at the screen occasionaly. I hope you find some more goodies before you start home. Have a safe trip

NICE HUNT BRYCE, WISH I COULD OF GOT OFF WORK AND WENT WITH YOU GUYS :rage: THE BARBER AND 2-CENT PIECE IS AWESOME BUDDY  HH.PHIL.

Thanks Phil. Next time...my Himlayan friend...next time.
We'll have to try and hit it one more time before it gets too nasty. Might want to bring some type of weapon to defend yourself from the wild insects:detecting:
