I think I might of gotten in my last ride for this year.....

We have snow coming tomorrow night up this way in the hills. Only 3 to 6 inches but if they plow and sand, that,s it until spring. The
sand on the roads if you ride hard makes it to dangerous and the salt eats up the chrome. My wife grabbed a shot of me headed out so figured I post it. Hate to put it away but that,s New England winters. Finished spreading 2 inches of process gravel today on the driveway and packed it. Gives me a smoother more even surface to plow in the winter. Got it down as it will all freeze up this way this weekend they are saying. If it isn't frozen, I don't plow it... About ready to get into the cabin fever mode. Feed the woostove and play on the internet. Tired something with the picture, it expands up almost full screen....or it should....

until the spring rains can wash the sand off the roads. Folks down here in South Texas do not realize how fortunate they are in that they can just about ride year long. Say, have you taken a look at those ultra-light airplanes? You could probably put some sled runners on one and fly it in the winter when you have snow. Keep warm and have a great weekend! tired of it. Everything here is in distinct seasons. Might be there also just not as dramatic weather changes perhaps. We we had the snowmobiles I really enjoyed winter. We had big groups that went out all over at night. More fun at night as the snow is more krisp, no glare off the snow and its just plain fun. We used to go to Lake George NY a lot on weekends. You could ride on the frozen lake and people would come out from all over. Different people would invite you into there place for hot drinks or cold depending on your choice of drink, big stews etc. Others had cabins in the woods and would have food there, dirt cheap. It was just a great time. Many of us took the kids, mostly in the daylight with kids. I had a big artic cat tow behind sled. We build a windshield for it, and cover as it looked like a big dogsled. We put extra fuel in the back where you could stand, tons of blankets in the front and the kids would have a ball. Went to Vermont a lot also and road all their trails, along with Maine, NH and Mass. RI used to let us ride on Cap Cod, but they stopped that as they thought it was harming the sand dunes.

I have looked into the ultra light planes, about 15 years ago. There are a few guys with a landing strip and they sell them not to far from me, 30 minutes. I got the interest then kinda lost it. Not sure why, just did. Probably something else caught my attention for a bit. I did do some hang gliding back in the mid 70's at a place called Gunstock in New Hampshire. They still do it there off a old ski sloop. Fun hobby also. I didn't have a lot of free time at the time so that was short lived as I was on the road a lot and the little time I was home needed to be with family.

I was on the Blueservo last night and today for that matter. The one that has 20 cameras on the border patrol and saw snow on the ground on the ones up by Elpaso. That seemed strange to me so far south, yet I assume some of your weather comes out of the north, so why not. I have that server on alot its free and I enjoy the web cams. AT night they are heat sensitive and you can see people and animals no problem....

Cold has pretty much settled in... at least I will still be able to go arrowheading.. :):

when you can be outdoors. I can take a lot of cold as long as I'm moving. Just standing and I'm indoors first chance. If its above 32 in winter I try to get to the beaches at the ocean and look for goodies. Just being out there getting sun, vitamin D, makes me happy.

I hope Alice is feeling better now. I know I was glad to see my gallbladder gone. There was a lot of pain associated with that little unit.
Between you and Wayne, you guys have had a hard year for family hospital visits. Hope next year is hospital free and everyone one healthy. Like you, if one of us is down the other ones gets the full load with the animals. Jane and Heidi are looking for and indoor right now about half way in between their place and ours so they can ride Jan, Feb and March. A lot of barns this year got dumped on with horses. People just left then and never came back. I saw that in the boat years when they were all going from wood boats to fiberglass. Once you pulled it, you never saw them again. If it was a documented vessel, it was and act of congress, coast guard to take a chain saw to it and salvage what you could. You would of liked that part of it. All kinds of nice big brass or bronze portholes, cleats, wheels, shafts, you name it.

old school style. This is a 2003 and has 23k miles on it. More power than my harley had and less vibration. Both nice road bikes, I just prefer the Victorys. I see more and more of them now. Mostly the Hammers, Vegas and Jack pots. As I recall in bermuda they were mostly the smaller mopeds. I didn't see enough roads to support a big road bike there. I know while there, there were a lot of moped accidents at the intersections on them. Mostly people not used to being on the opposite side of the road. I'm sure that would get me in trouble. Hard to retrain us old people.

i think we are all girding up for the "cabin fever" season! What a fine job you did of that picture, likely the cleanest i have ever seen on full screen!
You know, i sure like the way your property is set up and the old barn is so very real and natural that it just fits with the trees and terrain. I can't get excited about some of these new fancy "barns" that seem to be almost a home doubling as a barn. But then i'm an old rural type that is resistant to change:biggrin:
 
150cc is the maximum you are allowed to ride in Bermuda on the roads, anything larger can only be ridden at the racetrack by the airport. I know it must sound funny but 150cc is considered a big hog here and frankly the roads just aren't set up for anything bigger. Wind driven sand is a major problem as is the 2 stroke oil deposited by all the scooters here, when it rains all that oil percolates to the road surface and it is like riding on ice. If you go down it is like landing on a cheese grater because the asphalt is made with coral stone, anyone who has rubbed up against sharp coral will know what I mean by this. Each year we lose over a dozen people to bike accidents, which is a lot for a tiny island.

Its a 5 speed. One down, neutral, then the next 4 up....Clutch on the left as they all are, throttle on the right. The new Victorys are 6 speeds. They have a Honda out that is automatic. I was looking at one at the local Honda dealer about a month ago. They are a little pricey but they say they work great. Easy to get used to shifting any of them.

for their bike and also their trike. I'm not sure who makes which one but there is a link to one of them.

Harley Automatic transmission

They also make and automatic clutch that makes it work like one. One of my buddies that rides motocross only has one arm and he uses it. It works pretty slick and seems to be trouble free....

Auto clutch

Some the other bikes have had them from time to time. If thats what your really after hit the different shops. I know them have a setup for Trikes that not only has the auto transmission but also reverse. Just a little on the pricey side of about 35grand and on up.

Why are you interested in a automatic over a clutch type if you don't mine me asking?

I had bikes as a kid, and pretty sure the instinct will come back fast after a few days or weeks... would probably take a safetycourse also.. oj

Geo if you read this or anyone who had a bike, what happens if you got a flat at around 50 mph is there some procedure to follow if you don't panic...
 
That's a solid looking bike, my nieghbor bought a little China made electric scooter, to be honest looks like a toy, I wouldn't risk a low cc bike around here too dangerous, but yours looks a little peppy for sure at 150 cc... oj at around 49cc no insurance is needed, but may as well get a mountain bike :)
 
I'm a little leery of getting back on a bike has been years, but lately the interest has become stronger, may start on 1200 sportster, though the 883 is the same frame and cheaper on insurance... on the back burner but still pondering the descision... oj
