I thought I hit the jackpot

Well me and my girlfriend went out this morin and tried our luck. Had a really nice hit on a old volleyball court and hit on what i thought was a quarter..After she dug it up and handed it to me I was a little shocked. I tryed to clean off the dirt took it back to my truck where I had water. Clean it off and seen that it said $1 on the back and Abraham Lincoln on the front?? Never heard of this coin.. But after I google it I guess I'm going to work tomorrow...
