I was just practicing focusing on planes today....I like the way this vapor trail ended up

very clear to be so high up. what lens did you use? Always look to the sky. A friend of mine I chase planes with shot a contrail and plane and ended up being a plane that wasn't suppose to be seen. He made a load of loot with it $$$$ http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/05/12/flying-dorito-strange-aircraft-texas/9007123/

Thanks. I use a Sigma 50-500mm hand held.....my favorite setting is usually 1/1250th F7.1 and ISO auto. Often I manually focus because my camera doesn't focus very quickly...I'd say that's the only thing I don't like about it but I don't mind using manual. Very cool about your friend. Every now and then I read stories like that where someone captures something on camera that they weren't supposed to. I get a kick out of taking shots of private planes when they come over and then trace the aircraft number to find out where they're from and their flight path etc.

if youu have a smartphone and enjoy plane spotting check out FLIGHTRADAR24... its awesome. you can track the flightpath, # and a 3d view of google earth the pilot sees from plane. you can also open app and hold phone above horizon and see planes, flight # and distance from you. very fun to tinker with. of course you get more options with paid version.

Amazing what info you can get out of those smart phones! The only one I have other than my land line is a trackphone I take with me for emergencies.....never got into the mobile phone thing. I don't have much to say anyway! :)
