I was just wondering. When using your SunRay pinpointer, do you put your detector in pinpoint mode or just leave it in regular detecting mode?

Thanks for your input.

I usually leave it in detecting mode and switch to pinpoint if I need to (maybe 80% of the time?). If the object is right at the bottom of the plug, you don't need to pinpoint. It definitely gets more depth in pinpoint mode, sometimes you have to rebalance it a few times by hitting the pinpoint button before it settles down, but I've gotten used to that.

It depends......if I just want to see if the target is still in the hole or in the diggings, I leave it in the hunt mode. If I want to see exactly where it is, I use pinpoint.

probe will go off on any metal, and if you have trash in the hole and the coin is actually 1 inch to the side and 1 inch deeper you could scratch the coin while your digging up the trash. If and when I use pinpoint I switch to auto sensitivity instead of manual, try it next time your digging a target, the auto has a smaller footprint, its dead on balls vs manual sensitivity. And like Nick said you have to re balance a few times to get the pinpoint to work right. My X-1 probe went bad about two months ago and its not as much fun to hunt without it, I do have one of those I think they call a 560 probe but its not the same. If I could just find the original box the X-1 came in I would send it in for repairs.
