I was wrong about the Manticore.

A special shout out to Bart @Big Boys Hobbies and to all you on this board. Bart and all of you were right and I was wrong. I am happy about that. I now have many, many sites I had previously written off to revisit. I feel like that 10 year old boy strapping his metal detector to his bicycle for the first time.
Very welcome and glad to have helped and you like it! The Minelab Manticore is a HECK of a detector!

OK Guys I have a spot that is full of iron. Digging way too much trash. I am using HC with my Ferrous settings on 17 upper and -17 lower. Should I change this?

This is my killer setting in heavy iron that I have been using the past year. ATHC with recovery 5 (or 4), nothing notched, upper/lower FE at 7/3, stabilizer off. I keep the horseshoe button as a hot key, FE volume at 2. I switch back and forth to double check the target. This has been a rockstar for unmasking in iron.

Wow this leaves nearly all my target trace greyed out, are you sure about upper FE at 7 and lower at 3?

Yep, it works. Again and again. I got these settings from the NASA guy who worked with Minelab development testing the Manticore before it hit the market. I have hunted in literally carpets of iron and pulled silvers and other good keepers that were being masked. My hunting buddy, moreb from these forums has seen it and used it himself. We have spent the past year exclusively hitting places that we had "hunted out" with our CTXs. You will experience falsing, but if you turn 90 and keep a good eye on the center line, you will get a good feel for what is a desirable target and what is a bent and burnt square nail. The only iron that still fools me on occasion is the circular bolts.

Your method does work same can be said with heavy disc on the deus2 . When you say good keepers that were being masked (they were being masked by noise ) you eliminated the noise so you could hear the targets that were not masked . A masked target is a masked target nothing you can do about it you will not detect it .
So your still leaving targets .
But yes you can get a few more targets eliminating the noise .
As to the CTX did you compare these targets you found against it ? sube

OK I will try it. I am hunting a spot that is completely covered with Junk. Sardine cans, crushed Aluminum Cans, and whatever. Yesterday I pulled up a Cutting Torch Tip and another big copper piece of something. Out of all this I got a 48 silver quarter and a 09 Wheat.
