Id bracelet being returned after 50 lost on beach!

Mark kus

Well-known member
I was hunting a beach near my home about a week ago when I dug this ID bracelet over 12” down.
I took it home and looked it over and I could only read Dave on the front well off it went in my tumbler
with some lime away and steel shot after two days it came out beautiful and shiny and I was able to see
the address inside and name with a friends help Greg we tracked down a Dr David Feinstein in East Hartford Ct!!
Not sure if it was the right David I called his office and left a message asking him if he lost any jewelry? That he could
Remember?
He was very interested to say the least and said he had lost an ID bracelet when he was in high school some 50 years ago!
He identified it and I sent pics and he could not believe he was looking at his lost bracelet!
He used to spend all his summers at his family’s hotel which is now a condominium complex when he was a kid.
And we are meeting first at the beach where it was found then we are going for lunch,
Just a cool story I thought of sharing.
I was hunting with my Deus ...

Amazing! After 50 years too. You did the right thing. Good job and a true testament to part of what metal detecting is about. I'll bet he was amazed as well. Thanks for sharing this story.

He was in total disbelief he left me a voicemail saying he could only remember losing an ID bracelet when he was a kid
He is now 70! He described it and the beach he lost it on !
I said it’s yours no doubt he even described where he thought he lost it in front of what are now condos...
We are meeting up this weekend at the beach where he used to spend his summers as a youngster.

Well done, Good for the hobby and for you. Karma

I’m meeting up with David Saturday morning to return the bracelet he confirmed it’s been lost 55 years!
And it was a gift to him from his parents so I’m glad it will be returned and the sentimental value ..

Super find and great you were able to return it . . . as Todd said, karma comes full circle

Thanks just totally crazy I just took a shot in the dark and contacted his office and it was the correct owner!
I thought what are the chances this is the same person especially after so many years..
Here is his text response after seeing the Bracelet “That is my long-lost bracelet. Thank you. I'll be in touch so that we can meet down in Saybrook you'll be hearing from me. Again thanks so much. This is the kind of story they should put on TV”

That's a really great story - well done ! :clapping:
