if you could pick one of the two...

I've done a ton of reading and now I'm betting most people will say the 4.5x7 as well. Using it for iron infested sites/cellar holes. The separation on the stock coil is good, but I want much better

I am a long time x-5 user and have recently purchased and used the 4.5 x 7.
Both are very good. Over the years I have gotten some coins from surprising depths with the X-5.
I would have to lean toward the 4.5 x 7 just for the extra length of coverage it gives you and what I have saw so far while using it.

Thank you very much. I just pulled the trigger and ordered the 4.5x7. Hopefully it brings my colonial fields back to life!

Oh NO , you made a mistake ! Just kidding.:wiggle: Either one of the coils are a good choice. The X 5 has been around for some time and produced some great finds (deeep for a small coil) and the 4.5 x 7 has a bigger foot print for searching............ a person could not go wrong with either choice. Happy hunting Ace.

Thanks alot! I had to admit that you got me there with the first line of your post lol. My heart sunk for a second. I can't wait to try it out. Should be here by Monday...now if the weather can hold out for a bit....

I used a 6" EQ2 coil on my E-Trac for over 1500 hrs. - (till it shorted out ) - the 6 " EQ2 hits approx. 1" to 1 1/2" deeper than the 4.5" x 7" ( lot's of 7"+ Dimes) it's a fantastic coil !

Last year I got the 4.5" x 7" - it has got to be the best coil for getting into tight spots ever made - some people call this coil the "Football" - I call mine the "Ferret".

I've never used the SunRay X-5 but everyone says they are killer in heavy iron and hit real deep for their size.

Good Luck !

ive got the x5 great coil in highly trashy areas..has good depth aswell..not sure about the 4.5x7

Well, I've had the 4.5x7 on for almost a week now. It's not enough time to post a review, but I feel it is enough time to post my initial thoughts. Yep, it gets into tight spots. It picked a rose out of a yard that is infested with square nails. The stock coil missed it repeatedly. Now, for depth....maybe the coil just didn't get over any deep targets, but everything was 3"-4" or less. Was using ttf with open screen and manual 28. I hope this is not the best this coil can do! Starting to get worried, but I'll give it more time.

Actually I liked the X-8 the best of all I tried on the Etrac
