...wanted to take a trip to the east coast to do some water detecting, where would you go? I'd like to find a place that is kind of off the beaten path where I could not only detect but also set up a tent and camp over night. To me, it sounds like a great way to spend a couple of days. I'm not really concerned about finding much. I just want to get away for a little while. Does such a place even exist any more? HH - Crispy Critter
 
Meh....that's what I thought. I guess it's Daytona, again.... Then again, I could head South East to Bradenton, my old stomping grounds or maybe......
 
Amelia Island has a public beach where you can camp overnight for free. Also, Ft. Clinch is located on the island. You are not permitted to detect at the park; however, the rest of the island is fair game.
