I'VE been in metal detecting for all over 35 years off and on.. I'm looking to get back in.But i'm stuck between two metal detectors,, i should start by saying i love hunting parks and beaches. i'm stuck between two metal detectors, The legend and the minelab equinox .I've owned 2 minelab detectors.The excalibur 2 and the safari, so I have a little knowledge about Minelab, but I have been reading a lot about the legend, and it seems to be a really good detector.. If I decided on the legend, is the next generation worth the money or should I just go with the original legend. Thanks guys any help is much appreciated.

I own both the Legend as well as the Equinox 800 (and several others) I believe the Legend is just as good as the Equinox and maybe even a bit better. I am a coin hunter as well as a relic hunter and have made great finds with both.
As far as the Legend 2, my advice would be let it get out in peoples hands then read the reviews from people who actually put it to use before you take the plunge.

Equinox is lighter weight, but either way, you won't go wrong.

I still own and use the Safari when given the chance. I recently bought a Xterra elite, but I still believe the Safari is a notch up, though older technology and heavier. Just my personal opinion. While never having owned a Legend, they are quite popular. Seems a lot of folks use these and like them. Best of luck to you in your decision and Welcome back to metal detecting and to the forum. Oh man.....today's unbelievable metal detecting finds are one of my best ever! I worked about 1/8 mile in the river and pulled all this out today. It pays to do a little research of areas too! I really like my new metal detector, the Garrett Vortex VX9. There were some issues earlier this year...
