Headed to Long Island Sound Monday hoping the heat waves were the catalyst for some shiny drops. The good bling turned out to an oldie. Sandy must have left this one for me. It's 10K and needed a little polishing to see it well. I'm really enjoying the Excalibur in the ocean and auto sense seems the best choice to reduce falling and maintain a steady threshold. I've tried adjusting the sens thinking I could do better but auto seems better.

What ever works.....and apparently it does. But here in Fl running auto wont get you the deep ones others miss or that gets covered up quick. Any day with yellow is one very good day.

Thanks Dew. I'm aware of low to no mineral conditions in Florida having detected a few areas from Vero Beach to Miami - South Beach (love south beach :yikes:)! We have a whole different world of mineralization here. Huge areas of red and black sand that extend out to where we water detect. The varied geology of New England seems (to me) to all crumble down to the shoreline. The beaches vary in composition but all of them are tough. Setting the Excalibur for smooth operation will have me constantly tweaking the sens if i dont go auto in most places. Cape Cod has a little less mineralization compared to other places. Ill try and tweak it there. There's another Florida trip to plan within the next year to see family.

Congratulations on a fine hunt Bruce. Looks like you have another winner at the next club meeting. Like you, I've tried upping the Sensitivity on the Excalibur and couldn't do it. Auto works the best on our beaches for sure.
