in some cases, smaller is nicer

I got my stealth 08 in two weeks ago. Takes some getting used to. I wish the handle was at an angle instead of 90 degrees to the basket. But let me tell you they scoop alot of material and sifts sand quickly. Also hold earings in the basket better than my other scoop. I liked that fact that the handle floats, makes it easier to attach to your side, just got to shoo away the kids, cause they love to catch a ride. I'm currently looking for a 1 1/2" stainless steel tube to replace the handle with and to bend the tube right were it exits the basket. All and all i love the scoop, just had to get used to it. Goodluck with yours GraveDiggerMax.

I like the one @#$%& Detectors has in Michigan. All the holes are small, no loss of small stuff, and the handle is out side of the basket where stuff cannot hide behind it or get stuck next to it.

Best Regards,
Steve

I like the second picture GraveDiggerMax, i wish i could have gotten the opportunity to buy that one. Sunspot don't make that model anymore.

GraveDiggerMax,
I like all those perforations for sifting. The big one I have does not sift real well and I need to flow a lot of water through it to get rid of the sand and muck.

Hi Maxie,
Yes, that is the one. Catches all the small stuff. I like "kickin" it in the dry too! Fast man!

Best Regards,
Steve

I forgot to say that the one I have is the smaller one, they make 2 sizes, but both have the same multitude of small gold catching square perforations. Knee deep in the water the sand the scope empties before it reaches the water's surface. Niiiiiiiiiiiice!

Sanddigger,

I own the newer stealth 08 version. It's heavy!!! The floating handle helps if you strap it to your side while searching. If you are a petite woman then i would recommend the 6" version. Either scoop will scoop tons of sand that will usually sift out by the time you get the scoop to the surface. Overall the scoop is great, for me the only draw back is the 90 degree handle. I would have much prefered a angled handle to this 90 degree mounted handle, it makes scooping different and takes getting used to.

[size=large]I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I decided on the 6.5" size and it's great. This is by far the best scoop that I have ever used for water or dry sand. I was impressed at how quickly the dry sand went through this scoop.

The small holes in front and back capture the smallest items you could think of. I especially like the straight tapered handle that is 90 degrees to the scoop. The handles on all my other scoops were at an angle, and that made it more difficult to retrieve the items.

The foot pad on the back works just as advertised. An added feature that I like, and I was going to do myself, is the notch at the top of the handle. This allows you to position the scoop underwater, and even though you can't see it you know exactly what direction the scoop is pointing.

With Classes on Efficient Digging....

I would be the first inline!!.....Nice Scoop Max, get ready I will be down next spring for a video...Joe/Obn

Max,

I'm after a spare scoop.

The square wooden handle doesn't look comfortable, otherwise all hand digging tools would have this ??

Which of the two smaller scoops do you prefer.......sorry can't type the manufacturers name....but it's the SS scoop v PS scoop in the smaller versions.

I currently have the large SS scoop....very nice.
Thanks,
Tony.:ausflag:
