That said, I will also state that I have had better overall depth of detection from a few models that I have preferred to the Explorer's for several years. One is the 6000 Pro XL or XL Pro, and the other in my current XLT replacement, the VX[sup]3[/sup]. I have worked my VX[sup]3[/sup] against three different Explorer II's and one CTX-3030 during the past six months and never had a reason to believe the Explorer II was really 'better' on deeper targets.

Just to clarify, would you say that the VX3 can hold its own against a CTX-3030 as well? This also brings the Spectra V3i into the mix I suppose. Remember, I already have the best detector for shallow to mid-depth targets, so what I'm looking for is a detector to complement my Golden in the depth department.
