Please tell me everything i need to know to start digging indian heads. go on and on if you like, i will savor every word.

I have found them at 34 35 and 36 conductive numbers. The ferrous numbers sometimes are 10 11 and 12. I would describe the tone as a mid-high tone. Now I adjusted my threshold pitch from factory 15 to 20. I like the higher pitch for silver. I also took out the 1 line in the top right corner so the machine would accept silver dollars. I do use two-tone ferrous sometimes when there is a lot of trash. I have not saved any settings yet but have changed a few settings while hunting different places. Sounds like you have'nt gotten your coil over a IH yet but when you do you will dig it. Nice clean tone. Hope this helps and good luck. HH :minelab:

I dug 103 indians in 2010 and I have dug 36 so far this season.........so I can safely say I am comfortable on how they come in on the etrac.

For those of you that may have not dug an IHC yet, you may be curious just where they register on the etrac. Majority of the ones I found, I

thanks you guys, i really appreciate the advice!

Why are the numbers different from wheat pennies? They both are the same size and have the same composition of metals. The only variable I can think is time spent in the ground.

note sure, but they are quite a bit different!

Indian heads are "bronze"... 95% copper and 5% tin/zinc. Wheaties are supposedly the same composition but the speculation is there may be a difference in the quantity ratio of the 5% tin vs zinc. Both are the same weight (3.11g) and same diameter (19mm). If I were to guess I'd say quality control on the purity of the copper back post civil war wasn't quite there (remember pre-civil war IH's have nickel in them making them read even lower).... That's my conspiracy theory. :)
